Every other blue column of pixels is dead on NEC MultisyncLCD 1550M

This little monitor probably isn't worth the trouble, but I was just curious anyway if anyone had heard of this problem before. It used to be fully working, but after spending a few winters and summers in the garage, this monitor has developed a curious issue with the panel. Every other column of blue pixels is dead. It looks almost normal until you zoom in on the picture, when it becomes obvious.

Does anyone know why this happens or have any ideas for a fix?

The missing lines are not sub-pixels looks like the edge of the rows to me in the panel which have a trace/translucent wire running down them. You say the image looks fine if your stood back ?

It looks yellow and is lacking in blue in general if I stand back. The other one of these monitors that our family has does not suffer from that issue. I can't see how they wouldn't be blue sub-pixels though because I've never heard of a "red green blue red green black" arrangement before. See the attachment for a picture of how it looks on a functioning monitor.

It is a panel issue, not fixable i'm afraid. Could be that the cold damaged the glass.

          A working TV? How boring!

That's what I was afraid of. It just seems interesting that it killed only every other column of blue sub-pixels and left everything else intact.

It's a lesson learned though - don't leave LCDs in extremely cold environments for long periods of time (especially equipment with older panels).
