    Lg L196wtq

Hey everyone. So far, I've been enjoying my new LG L196WTQ monitor. Today, I discovered that on the FCC ID search website, you can put in any FCC ID and lots of them will give you pictures of the insides. I put in the FCC of my new LCD (BEJL196WTQ) and I got a few PDF's of the insides of my monitor.

    https://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/prod/oet/f...ive_or_pdf=pdf

Scroll down a few pages to shots of the inverters. There's a big filter cap labeled KM(M), anyone know what kind of cap that might be? There are also some other caps on the inverter that appear to be G-Luxons, but I don't want to start freaking out yet. Can anyone identify them?

    Thanks guys.

There are Samxon GF (unreliable units, in green sleeves) with one Samxon KM 400/450V unit.

I am amazed that the FCC would now have exhibits of products with an FCC ID...

      fan fucking tastic

Considering the fact that this monitor retails for around $240 and has an MSRP of $280, I expected a lot better than this. There are generic 1440x900 19 inchers going for $150 now!

How bad are Samxon GF, are they likely to fail or do they just suck?

btw, was the FCC having documents on products with an FCC ID comment sarcasm? just wondering.

        Re: Lg L196wtq

I had a bunch of them fail in an HP monitor in under a year.

The customer explained that they heard a pop and the monitor would only turn on for a few seconds. It seems like one of these went off like a firecracker.

Replacing the caps put it back in operation again.

As luck would have it here are the pics of the failed GFs.

Samxon is a known good brand but GF is a bad series.

I use UCC and Panasonic personally.

I knew those caps looked familiar but I couldn't put my finger on it.

Whoops sorry I mean't a Gateway monitor I posted about it awhile back.

A really hope to preserve their reputation that they don't make the GF series anymore.

Under how much use did they last a year? This monitor has a 3 year warranty, if it dies at least I won't have to recap it. Gets around 6-9 hours of use per day.

              Re: Lg L196wtq

The customer told me that it was casual use and the computer and monitor were always turned off after they were done.

But then again I can't verify that they could have left it on 24/7 for all I know.

All that I do know is 8 months after selling it the caps went to meet their maker.

I wouldn't use this as a timetable since this monitor was a Gateway and the design of the inverter and location of the caps in proximity to the heatsinks is different.

But as a general rule the Samxon GF series is horrible in monitors and doesn't live there very long.

The Panasonic FC series is a great non-aqueous cap that is perfect for LCD monitors.

May I ask how you search the FCC website ? I have been trying to duplicate your search but obviously with no success and I tried various search engines on the FCC site

                    https://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/...ericSearch.cfm

Put the first three letters of the FCC ID where it says "Grantee Code" and the rest where it says "Product Code".

Once you do that, click on "Detail" under "Display Exhibits".

After that, you get a list of attachments.

FCC ID's are pretty handy, shame most products don't show them. Sometimes you can find out who REALLY made it without opening it. For example, BEJ is always LG, A3K is Philips (I think), BCG is Apple, etc. etc. If you see some random TV with an FCC ID that starts with "BEJ", you know it's a rebadged LG. I don't think I've ever seen a TV that showed the FCC ID, that's just an example.

                        Hi there!
Someone gave me their old monitor, it's Dell S2715ht.
The owner was using it when his PSU began to smell and then to smoke. It literally began to melt. He turned the monitor off, pulled the PSU, and ditched it because it was smelly even after it cooled. So I got the monitor but not the plug.
Now, I tried to bring the monitor back to life, by plugging one of my many Dell laptop PSUs. They are of the same 19.5V, and the wattage of the laptop PSU is higher than that which the monitor is rated for. Visually, the socket on the monitor seems compatible, and the plug plugs...

                        by wattage
                        Hello Badcaps Community,

I purchased a preowned AOC monitor that is not working and out of warranty. It was sold as not working. I am looking for guidance on self-repair. In particular, I am after the firmware for the monitor. At the end, I have included monitor model information and links to pics and vids of the issue.

The problem is that it will not display a picture on any of its inputs. And the on-screen menu does not appear. The power button works properly. It powers on with the remote as well. But the on-screen menu does not appear, even when not connected to any...

                        Hi Everyone

                        Good evening, gentlemen.

I have a problem with my monitor. It turns off after a few seconds or flickers. Shining a flashlight on the screen doesn't show any image, so I guess it's not the "2 seconds to dark" I read in the forum.

To turn it back on, I have to press the power button twice. Then after a few seconds it turns off again or flickers. See video.

Looking through my repair pictures and notes, it's been a long time since I posted anything in the LCD monitors section. So here goes that.

I'm dedicating this thread to one of the very first LCD monitors I repaired (if not the first one), which was more than 10 years ago now. The monitor is a Wise Wing, model F199. It's a 19” CFL-backlit LCD. I got it for free off of Craigslist in 2009 from a guy, who said he bought it for cheap from Wallmart and the monitor worked only for a little less than 2 years before quitting.

When I saw the Craigslist post, I wasn't...
