    Re: Dell 2208WFP backlight issue

    Thanks, good advice.

I have no testing equipment, btw. And I did think about replacing the nearby CapXon caps too, but since I had such a difficult time with the first three, I didn't want to risk destroying the board further. Too many bent pins, bad welds, ripped copper pads, etc...

And I didn't have a proper workspace either. You really need a nice workbench, overhead light, or even a magnifying scope for other things like surface mount work.

Fair enough, although it should be fairly easy if you try the methods I wrote about earlier. The best thing of course is to practice, get an old dead board and just play around with desoldering on it. Try different ways of doing each thing. You'll soon find out what works and what doesn't.

The biggest thing with any desoldering is of course to add new solder and flux to the joint beforehand. If you are using wick, sometimes you need to add flux to the wick if it is cheap\old and doesn't contain any or it has tarnished a bit.

          Looking for Dell Latitude 5520 / 5530 / 5540 RJ45 network connector replacement
          by diamon
I have a Dell Latitude 5530 with a damaged RJ45 network connector. See the attached pictures.

Have already searched on Farnell / Aliexpress / Ebay and had contact with several suppliers on Aliexpress and Ebay, but they cannot deliver this connector.
Is there someone inside the EU, who has these connector(s) or perhaps defective motherboard(s) for these laptop models I have mentioned in the topic title.

          Pictures of these boards:

T-con suspect issue. Both ribbon cables no picture. One ribbon cable ok. (58pus8545)
          by Tr0ll
Hi guys! I realized you have a lot of knowledge here so i am hoping you could point me in right direction with my odd issue.

The Tv is a Philips 58PUS8545/12, it had no picture but working backlights.

          Original T-con:
Opened the Tv and tested to unplug one ribbon cable at a time. With this test i could see that i got fine picture on both halves as long as there was only one ribbon cable connected, with two connected picture were gone.

          First replacement T-con:

I thought it might be t-con and ordered new t-con from china(supposedly tested)...

Dell G3 17 3779 Weird power cycling and shutdown/restart issue
          by SuperJames
This one's a weird one, and still unsolved despite it having gone back to Dell once.

          Specs

i7-8750H, GTX 1060 Max Q, 500GB SSD & Seagate 7mm 1TB HDD. 17.3 IPS screen. This has the fingerprint reader in the power button.

          Backstory

I bought this from eBay, from a wallpapering shop. £650 in 2020 which was a good price considering it's a gaming laptop. Physically it's in perfect shape, apart from the hinge mounts on the palmrest failing in the time I've had it (I have a new palmrest for it). The usual thin plastic crap modern build quality!...

Dell Inspiron 3480 All in One corrupt Bios issue: reaches Dell logo and stops
          by computerbacon79
The Dell Inspiron 3480 I own (the all in one, not the laptop) is not wanting to turn on at all. It goes right to a dell logo, but it stays there forever with no other information on the screen. Holding the automatic Bios repair key combo (ctrl+esc) that should let it read a recovery file off a USB drive gets stuck on a black screen and does nothing. No amount of resetting anything so far has worked, and Dell's own support downloads have not really helped. Ive tried another BIN file I found online using my CH341A, and this got me slightly more, that time it displayed a loading bar that never moved...

Dell Latitude 3510 Overheating & Fan Control Issue – Need Help
          by Ven
Dell Latitude 3510 (Intel Core i7-10510U) CPU Overheating

          Issue Description:
          1. CPU Overheating to 100°C
            • When I start the laptop from a cold state, it takes about a minute to reach temps around 80-90-100°C, and CPU thermal throttling triggers.
            • When the CPU fan is running at full speed (by disconnecting PWM and TACH cables), CPU temperature stays around 50-60°C.
            • However, when the fan is connected normally to the motherboard, it does not kick in at high temperatures.
            • I also noticed a few times that the fan kicked in for a very short time, but it does not stay on consistently.
