    Dell 2007FPB compatible boards

    Hello, folks.
Please, forgive this dumb question but I own a 2007FPb whose logic board is FUBAR (really). Obtaining a replacement is not easy any more (or unreasonably expensive) so I was wondering if replacing the logic board with one from the same line (e.g. 1708FP or 1907FP) would bring it back to life. Are the resolution capabilities for each one "hardcoded" into the main GENESIS chip or auto-sensed and applied? Has anyone tried something similar?

I have not tried it before and only read a little bit on the matter... but I think the resolution capability is just programmed in the firmware. Now, as for weather the specific Genesis chip in the other, lower-end 17" or 19" monitors has the bandwidth capability to be pushed at higher resolutions, that I do not know. In any case, if you do take the logic board from one of the lower-sized monitors, you would need to make sure the LVDS signals going to the t-con board match the layout to that of your 2007FPb first... and then, perhaps by using a firmware dump from the 2007FPb or just the firmware IC itself (if it's compatible with the 17/19" boards) might make things work. But that's a very big IF... and really only a *thought* on my part. Someone more experienced might actually know more (and could hopefully enlighten us here.)

That said, post a high-quality picture of your original logic board, just in case. You never know if some other brand of monitor uses it or something very similar. I have a 20" Samsung (1600x1200 resolution) monitor that has a busted screen, but otherwise everything works on it. I kept it for this precise reason - in case I or anyone I know runs into such an issue and needs a mainboard and/or other parts.

Three 820-01700 32GB Logic Boards Same Issue: Won't Wake From Hibernate
      by ugamazing
I have three identical-spec 820-01700 boards (2.6/32/512), and ALL THREE boards came to us with the same fault, from different sources: The boards don't wake from hibernation with the keyboard or lid, they ONLY wake when you press the power button. I understand this is a very minor issue, but the boards must be fixed!

We will of course begin with the obvious (checking lid signals), but I couldn't help but notice these three boards were all 32GB variants. Has anyone noticed an issue relating to these 32GB boards in particular? I of course don't think it's a RAM issue, but it's bizarre...

Dell E6400 PT434 type Battery Charging Stuck at 1%. Battery Pinouts?
      by Bowline
My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.
I have tried multiple different Dell power adapters. My Dell...

Dell Latitude 5420 does not start (no post) need help to find the reason why
      by F R 2568
      Hello all,

this is my first post, so if I make mistakes please do not hesitate to point them out, thank you in advance.

I got a Dell Latitude 5420 (Service Tag: 7RFM6D3, Motherboard: GDF40 LA-491P Rev.: 2.0 (A01)) which does not start and I want to repair it. These are the symptoms:

If the laptop is only connected to the AC adapter (battery removed):

When I press the power button, the keyboard backlight and the display backlight are turning on. Caps key light is lightning, but key does not respond to pressing it.

      The power/battery...

Dell Inspiron 5590 Board 18778-1 no charging, charging not possible
      by master3112
I would like to share my experience about charging issues with Dell power supplies with the tech community. I am working on a Dell Inspiron 5590, Mainboard 18778-1 with charging problems. The device can be switched on and works so far, only the message appears at startup:

Alert! The AC power adapter wattage and Type cannot be determined. The battery may not change. The System will adjust the performace to match the power available.

The power supply unit is not recognized in the Bios and the charging process is set to "idle". I use original Dell battery, type...
