Please bare with me. I'm very much a novice at this kind of thing. Only swapped out some leaky caps on some lcd monitors in the past. Bought this tv cheap. Figured it would be pretty easy to diagnose. TV powers on, but no visible display. Using the flashlight trick I can see the Vizio setup menu. Don't have a DMM yet, but it is on the way. I'm curious if someone could point me in the right directions on how to measure the voltages both coming from the power board and the voltages on the main board. I somewhat understand what to look for, but the lack of pins coming from the power has me unsure of what voltage I should expect to read and what I should look for on the main board. I'm assuming that my problem is on the main board (maybe voltage regulator or something). Just a guess without a meter though. Any help is greatly appreciated. Full model number is Vizio E320i-a0.
Vizio E320i no backlight, flashlight test good.

Re: Vizio E320i no backlight, flashlight test good.
Hi, it's a led backlight type i think.. on the mainb. there are 2 white connectors that forms an "L", one 5 pins , one 6 pins, on the picture 5 are on hour 7.. those seem to be the led B.L. power outputs, i'm not expert, never repaired one of this type.. check the voltage on each pin, if there is no voltage on some pins, with meter's continuity test (beep) check which ones are connected to board's ground and which are con. to one pin of those grey coils (inductors)..
on the first picture to up-right there's a stripe board, is that the front buttons board?
The conn. that goes to led b.light seem to be the one with all black wires apart one white that goes to the side, the other near that goes to the bottom center is probably the ir receiver.Last edited by Davi.p; 03-15-2014, 03:08 AM.Comment

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by ohrenI hope this is the right forum to post in despite not technically being a repair, but still a question of swapping boards.
I thought I'd explore the possibility to upgrade an existing working Samsung ue55nu7096u with the logic board (and power board if needed) of a newer model (ue55ru7105k) of the same size and appearance (and resolution). The reason being I'd like the extra inputs of that board including component in, an extra HDMI port and bluetooth. Its panel is broken so I have no use for the board otherwise.
The models launched in 2018 and 2019 respectively.... -
by howardc64All left and right refers to looking from rear of TV (or looking from front with TV upside down)
- TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
- Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....-

by Dani_2024Hi and thanks in advance for any input you might provide!
I have a Sceptre U550CV-UMRD8POTV83BB 4K LED (this is a dumb tv) that I bought new in August 2021, so It's just completed 3 years.
Main power board model: TP.MS3683.PC821 T-Con board: N4TP546UHDPU2L_BO
Last Sunday I was watching a dvd and fell asleep for about half hour, when I awoke the tv screen was black and couldn't get the dvd menu to show, so I changed the input to antenna and had sound but no picture, turned it off. I then got online and found this great site! ....read many troubleshooting tips and this...5 Photos - Loading...
