    Hello folks
I made this handy tool to test if monitor have bad ccfl out of
good ccfl bulbs I incased bulbs in a plastic clear tubing 1/2 inch in diameter. from HD, two PVC end caps 1 drilled fro wires. works great.

We have the same thing but without the plastic tube, it's an important tool and we aren't so rough that the lamps get broken.

The complimentary tool is an inverter with a pair of DC wires for 12V that will turn on a set of lamps. that way you can unplug the lamps and plug them into the 'test inverter' and light the screen while turning on the monitor to send video data to the TFT.

We've found that it's important to do both tests, we want to make sure the LCD is worth the labour of installing new lamps before we proceed, too many times we've determined the lamps are bad, replaced them only to find that the TFT also has lines or dots or other problems, then we are left with wasted time, energy and used lamps that we can't bill for.

I guess I am being over cautious you never know, but anyway I thought I would share a good idea to protect bulbs.

What I do Is buy non working monitors if I find that the CCFL bulbs are bad I use it for parts. Not cost effective to by bulbs when I only sell monitors for 35.00 to 40.00 dollars

Sinotec LCD TV Model ST-42KC42F "CCFL lamps not switching on"
          by angelos
          Hi Guys,
It's been a while that i have been active on the forum, sorry for that. My primary job has been keeping me quite busy.
The above set starts up with sound working just fine but the CCFL lamps (Inverter) runs for one second and switches off.
My 24V supply is steady and the ON/OFF pin to the inverter is at +5V.
The only thing i see is the PWM signal pin is at +5V without any square wave being emitted. Is this normal? as far as i can remember there needs to be a square wave pulse there. Am i right?

I will now measure with my oscilloscope probe on...

Samsung LN40C630K1F LCD TV No Backlights and Flashlight Test Fail
          by signal.quest
          Hi all,

I have been working on a Samsung LN40C630K1F LCD TV. On power up the backlights only briefly light up when first powered on then they go out (2 seconds to black). The flashlight test also fails. The sound works fine. Please see attached pics.

I have researched the forums a lot. I have watched the videos of trying to locate the bad CCFL or transformer and bypassing. I can't find any evidence of a bad transformer/CCFL. I verified I get 376V from the big caps to the fuse. I have used a small/cheap oscilloscope and it looks like the MOSFETs on the inverter...

How Can I test PWM DM0365R?
          by chth96
          Hello
I have power adaptor(220V/input, 12V 1.2A/output) which has symptom of fluctuating output DC voltage between 11.5V-12.2V.
So I opened its plastic case and when switched it on, I heard constant tik tik sound from inside its PCB.
I measured DC voltage between negative and positive pin of the largest capacitor(400v 10uf) and it was measured contant 300V.
I also measured ESR value of all capacitors and I noticed that one of capacitor(KMG 16v 470uf), which located in the secondary side, have high ESR value(10 ohm),So I replaced it with same specification NXH capacitor....

HANNSG Hi221 -- 2 secs to black feat. CCFL flicker & "burn" marks on power board
          by ttmi100x
          Greetings everyone,

I have a HANNSG Hi221 monitor that exhibits two seconds to black issues (backlight goes off, display is still on as confirmed by shining a flashlight on it) with some additional oddities...

The monitor failed on me with a standard "2 seconds to black" some time ago prompting me to initially replace most of the electrolytic capacitors (some of them were bulging/leaking).
Things kinda sorta worked for a night, then the problem returned along with some flickering and "buzzing" noises.

          Upon closer inspection...

test active pfc power with lamp test
          by khelane
          Hello
I have a big problem and that is that in some cases when repairing active pfc power supplies I cannot work with a test lamp. I can only get help with 5 volts standby and for starting and starting I have to work without a lamp and this way there is a possibility of parts exploding and other parts being added.
Sometimes with a multimeter test the problems can be reduced to some extent, but I had several cases that had to be tested on and online and recently two varistors exploded. They had terrible resistance because the power supplies were over 800 watts.
          Is there a way...
