I would replace all of them. You are going to have to look at all of them as you remove them, no one has a list that i got anyway... what I should have done is took a picture of the whole board ( yours isn't showing the top part), took the caps off one by one and wrote down what they were with a map.
Mine worked after I replaced the 22uf 35v and other small ones. the only ones I didnt replace were a 1uf 100v, and 2 22uf 50v on the outer edges. there are several 1000uf 25v & 35v, 470uf 35v, 25v, 10v...etc..there is 1 22uf 400v cap on there too. Order them from digikey, they will be the best quality. good luck, i'm a beginner at fixing monitors and im using mine right now after fixing

        Thanks for your reply
I took this board to local repair shop and guy said caps look good, He wants me to bring the whole monitor. I did change some caps on my old Samsung and caps did look bad ( tops were blown) But on this monitor all caps look ok like repair guy said. I don't know if i should just change them or bring the monitor to him to look at the whole thing.
        What would you say?

If you want to try to fix it yourself you will need a multimeter and soldering equipment.
If you cant fix it you can still take it to the repair shop.

We will need better pictures posted using manage attachments.

          Welcome to the forum-
We can help a lot more if you please post good clear pictures of the whole chassis, and then pictures of each board, front and back (in the same orientation) and close up of connectors, (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) using the manage attachments button, which is found by clicking "go advanced" under quick reply.

Please do not post inline and offsite as they slow down the loading of pages.

It will be useful if you can say what the supposed fault was and a bit about yourself - skills tools etc.

            Thank you for the info
I did drop it off to a repair shop and will know whats going on Monday.
I live in Istanbul, Turkey now, so repairs could be cheaper here than US. I will post more after Monday.
Once again thank you for your support.

It may turn out they are good, but anyone who declares that capacitors are good by simple visual inspection doesn't know what they are talking about.

A capacitor can appear fine, just like an AA battery looks good, but have incorrect ESR or capacitance. The two parameters requires specialized test equipment to measure them.

That's exactly right RC. This board is a perfect example of that. This is one of the "HANNS" boards where the small capacitors in the middle dry up due to extreme heat and poor quality. You cannot tell just by looking at them. But need an ESR tester.

Ismolika; Does this look like your board? I'm attaching a picture of the 3 caps that need to be replaced. (circled in red). The ones circled in blue are optional. You'll need to use high quality, low ESR - 105c rated capacitors because they take a lot of heat.

You could replace all of the caps: but when I tested the others on my boards the ESR was still very low and good. I have fixed a couple of these monitors and it was always those 3 little caps. Good luck! ~L-J-7~

Repair guy couldn't find whats wrong with it, lol
So, now i have to go get some tools and try to fix it myself. Ill post some more pictures, maybe you guys can tell me more about it.
Before i go on and get my hands dirty can you guys answer a few questions please
1- Is there a way to test the caps without taking them out?
2- What voltage numbers iam looking for? Good cap , bad cap?

                    Thank you.

Re: HANNSPREE HF289H Black Screen No Power

1 No - without an esr meter you cant even test them when out.

2 Bad caps can reflect in odd voltages on the board you cant just say
                      voltage x = bad cap

post the pictures to see if we can spot anything and source the 3 caps
                      L777 mentioned.

I did change all the caps with red circle and whatever i could with blue. I had very little exp. with soldering but i did it. woooottt. I am using my monitor right now.

Refer back to post #66. If the repair guy is serious about his business, he should consider investing in an ESR meter.

While I'm glad you got it fixed, unless you have an ESR meter to check every capacitor out of circuit, there could be more caps that are bad than the 3 you changed. As I have mentioned several times, this particular monitor in its various incarnations seems to run very temperature hot drying out caps on both the power and main board.

You are right , Monitor was hot before, you could feel the heat from screen, Its not like that anymore now.
I was low on cash so i did buy analog meter but its very difficult to understand it. I will buy digital int he future. Its kinda hard to check the caps without taking them out. Plus i need some soldering classes. I did a messy job but hey it worked

I have the same issue that everyone basically has with the monitor. Doesn't power on, then i get an orange light, followed by a blue blinking light. This whole process takes about 30 min to an hour.

I am going to attempt the repair myself after reading some of the successes in this forum.

Try setting the PC video resolution to the lowest setting and see if the monitor will stay on.

I had the same problem about 4 months ago. I took the monitor into an electronics repair facility and 4 months later, I was told that the problem is the "Main Board".
                                  (Hannspree Part #70-HF9901006010 - MAIN BOARD HSG1052)
Unfortunately, I was then told that the part was "No longer available". I "WAS" running two of these monitors and I'm now trying to find another one. Hannspree has a "Retail Store" in Los Angeles, I'm hoping to start there. If anyone knows where I can find this part, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The part number kinda threw me a little, because I could not find it ever being sold, anywhere at any time. Try part number HF990100G010

Hello, looking for fixes to my hanspree monitor brought me here. I have similar problems to what people are describing in this thread. It started with My Led Power button having issues when waking from sleep mode, its performance diminished over time, to where the monitor would only turn on when cold.

I have removed the 8 caps that are circled in the image posted earlier in this thread and ordered replacements on digikey. I wanted to make sure I ordered the right caps as I wasn't sure about several factors like ripple current, impedence and size. If anyone can tell me if these capacitors i ordered listed below will work, it would be much appreciated. I have also attached a board map of the capacitors I removed.

Well I replaced the 8 caps and the monitor has started up perfectly. I also removed 5 vertical lines on the screen by pressing near the edges to fix the loose connections. Now in testing phase of using the monitor, the fact that it started up at all is a good sign, will repost if the problem persists. But so far so good, this thread has helped out a lot!
