This may also been known as an ACER 200 WS. I can only find the service manual on pay sites. I am guessing that these pay sites are probably bogus sites?

Lay it on a soft(ish) surface like in pic 2 and start levering the case apart. Like 90% of todays cheapo LCDs, the case is held together by plastic clips all around.
Start on the bottom of the LCD so any pry marks in the plastic aren't visible once it's back together.
The main mistake most people make is trying to get the front cover off. Those always open up from the back, exposing a metal cage sitting on the back of the LCD panel (usually not even held in place by screws), which in turn sits in the front half of the casing.
Managed to finally get this thing open and it looks like there was a poor connection on one of the ccfl's which meant that it wasnt connecting properly. The connection had melted the on the end causing the plastic cap to break in two and the end of the ccfl has burnt off.
I am looking on the net now for a replacement CCFL and I am wondering if it is even worth replacing it?

I would definitely resolder the wire to the end of the ccfl and see if that takes care of the issue. I have repaired several monitors that just needed the wire cut off, stripped, and resoldered to the bulb. The wire that is used is very small gauge and can easily break and/or get hot.
A new bulb through ccflwarehouse.com sold through e-Bay is $8 plus $5 shipping and each additional bulb is $8 with no additional shipping. If you go that route, I can give you the link to their auction and you will just need to measure the bulb so they can get the correct replacement. They also sell them pre-harnessed so that you don't have to solder them, but of course, they are more expensive.
The end of the bulb had snapped off so I would definitely need a new one. I am in the UK so we don't have access to ccflwarehouse. I am looking on Ebay uk for the equivalent.

Here is the link to the ccflwarehouse.com e-Bay item that I have used several times. They do ship to the UK - it's $8 for the bulb and $12.95 for shipping. Additional bulbs are still $8 and no additional shipping. You basically use the buy-it-now for the number that you want and then put the dimensions of the bulb in the notes of the payment (diameter and length). They have instructions on how to measure the bulbs on the ccflwarehouse.com website.
My only ccfl "repair" was taking a 19 inch 4:3 pre harnessed ccfl from a dead monitor and putting it into a 19 inch 16:9 monitor. So even though the ccfl and housing was shorter, I was able to make it work. That is, until I somehow managed to disconnect about 1 inch of those tab bonds putting the whole thing back together.
So if you don't want to spend the money, you can hunt around for old dead monitors with good ccfl bulbs.

I dont know but is it a "Kensington Lock" point so it can be anchored to a desk?
There is a K in the lock so i guess it is a Kensington Lock but its just a hole, dont know how that works.
So i dont have to do anything with that hole?
Okay, i got it open finally thanks for help so far.
Capacitors look fine on the power-board.
Will take a look at the backlicht connections.
Kensington Lock, normally used in shops to stop the item from being stolen,so not being used.
Put your fingernails under the top/Bottom or sides of the Surround from the front, and you should get enough slack from one of them to be able to work your way around with a 'flat blade type thingy'

I used a credit card to slide it open, the card will get damaged but the monitor stays pretty, started at the control buttons, there you can pull it back and then slide the card trough.
But...
One backlight looked washed up, was also broken during dismantling, there was some black discoloration at the place where it flickered, this means the end, even when i could put it back together with a good backlight it would almost be impossible to get it running again without dust in the screen, farewell my friend. Really loved the screen, dark blacks nice colors.
Bad Luck.I did the Nijmenen March in 1960 (am I really that old !!!!)I bet your Credit card would get more damge if you gave it to one of the opposite sex...lol
Well it was not really a credit card but a sort of (worthless) wall mart discount pass, i didn't know how to describe it so i just said credit card.
How many km did you walk? 50 ? You walked there as a soldier or just for the fun of it?
I'm now looking for a new monitor but i have no clue what to get, any recommendations? Blacks are important to me, also hate backlight leaking. Spending max 150 euro.
