    HP-W2338h ccfl question

    Hi,

I'm trying to bring an HP-2338h widescreen monitor back to life. It had the two seconds to black problem. All power supply caps check good for ESR and value.
It looks like there is some kind of substance around the lower set of ccfl lamps, maybe phosphor powder? The monitor has two lamps on the top edge and two on the bottom. I can plug two test ccfl bulbs (from a computer light kit) into the lower set of sockets and all bulbs light. The test bulbs are about 300 mm long while the original bulbs are 2.4 mm diameter and 525 mm long. I ordered two bulbs from ccfl warehouse and the new bulbs won't light when used with the original two. I can light the new bulbs with the inverter that came with the light kit but I notice I have to increase the voltage on my power supply and the current is higher than with my shorter test lamps.
My questions are these. Do you think that the circuit is sensing the two different currents between the bottom and top bulbs and shutting down? Will buying two more bulbs of the same kind solve the turn on prolem? Do these inverter circuits on the power supply typically have enough range in the voltage and current to light a wider range of bulb specs?
The only numbers on the power supply I could find are 715G2824-1-7 and on a tag on the solder side of the board 8EA42SQWP. The monitor was built in 2009.

    Thanks,
    Mike

Monitor Audio RSW12 - Green light but no audio
    by MOSSEP
    Hi

Im hoping someone might be able to give me some idea of what may be wrong with my Monitor Audio RSW12 Sub.

Ive owned it since new in around 2002, so would really like to keep it running if I can, it was the first ‘decent' bit of audio equipment I ever purchased and is a little sentimental.

The issue I had was that it would power up with the red light, but sometimes the green light would not come on and I would get no bass from it. If the green light did come on though, I would get sound out of it.

I have already tried replacing all of the...

HannStar Hanns-G HC194d LCD monitor repair
    by momaka
Normally, I never post repairs this quick after I do them, because… I am usually very slow. But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though. I picked it up last November from someone on my local Craigslist. It wasn’t very close to where I live, but was close to a family friend that I had to go visit anyways. So after watching the posting on Craigslist for a few weeks and seeing it getting...

Guide me through repairing a Dell p2210f LCD ccfl backlight monitor
    by DanPoka
I bought this p2210f dell monitor to fix. Schematic is the same as p2210.
Behaviour is that monitors comes on but then backlight switches off almost instantly. If I look with flashlight I can still find the "No signal message". So definitely a backlight issue. Trying to advance the issue I proved that the protection circuit is switching off the backlight by shorting out C3 and resistor to disable the INL chip then re enable by removing the short.
This is where it gets interesting. When I disassembled the monitor to solder leads on c3 capacitor I noticed the backlight flickered...

Help on Samsung Syncmaster T220 dead ccfl lamp
    by mikey5791
    Hi,

This monitor previously is my main working monitor which i have been using for 8~9 years. Yesterday, when i switched on my pc from fresh to power on, the monitor is just black no display. I started dismantle to look inside the monitor power board but nothing looks suspicious or burnt. So i took my external ccfl inverter to try to power the monitor ccfl lamps which consisted of 2 lamps on upper part and 2 lamps on the lower part.

Found out the upper ccfl lamp which is supposed to connect to cn304 on the power board did not light up. Then i installed a used working...
