Re: Samsung 2493 HM issue
Thank you Plainbill, I will measure that, also my DMM doesn't have capacitance function, I discovered I have one at work I can use which has capacitance function, should I use that one instead ? If yes, to measure capacitance, should I desolder CM812 or there is no need for it ??

Pin Yours Other one
1: 5.05v / 5.08V
2: 5.05v / 5.08V
3: 2.54v / 2.55V
4: 0.00v / 0.00V
5: 5.08v / 5.11V
6: 0.07v / 0.07V
7: 0.07v / 0.07V
8: 5.04v / 5.08V
9: 14.60v / 11.90V
10: 0.00v / 0.00V
11: 0.19v / 0.19V
12: 14.06v / 11.30V
13: 0.00v / 0.00V
14: 0.27v / 0.25V
15: 15.06v /12.2V
16: 5.04v / 5.07V
The next thing to test is CM812. I know your DMM does not have a capacitance function, so pull CM812, set your DMM to the 20 Megohm range, and touch the probes to the cap. You should get a reading that increases, eventually going open.

Re: Samsung 2493 HM issue
After more than a month, I've finally received my SMPS controller ... but after installation, unfortunately, my monitor is still not working .... I still don't have 5.3v or 24v ....
Do you have anymore suggestion ?Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung 2493 HM issue
Ah ok Thanks Alexanna !
I ordered an SMPS controller on August 19th apparently, it's coming from Australia and I still did not receive it, so as soon as I install it, I will let you know if that worked, if not, I will try to check that capacitor !
Thanks for the heads up though !

Re: Samsung 2493 HM issue
I am not really sure where you are on you monitor, I guess the point I was trying to make was there have been several failures of that capacitor. It sure wouldn't hurt to check the capacitance of it, and if the equipment on hand is unable to test it, I tried to give several suggestions on how to get it tested without spending a lot of money.Leave a comment:

Is it a question for me ?? if yes, my DMM doesn't have a capacitor range .....sorry !Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung 2493 HM issue
The monitor I had where that capacitor failed was the BN44-0173 Board, there was no obvious bloating or burning on the outside of the cap. After removal from the board there was some very slight discoloration of one of the pins where it went into the plastic, it was very hard to see.
If your meter does not have a capacitance reading ability, and buying a new meter is out of the question.
There would be nothing wrong with having someone checking it for you, any heating air condition technician, or if you have small local hardware store ask them to help you out, I would suspect the cost to be minimal if any.Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung 2493 HM issue
Now, the $64 question: Does your DMM have a capacitance range? This cap has an equivalent in the BN44-0173A power supply, and is known to fail.

Re: Samsung 2493 HM issue
On mine it's written on the top:
12 NJ 630v
some kind of a reversed "C" 4 MMKP
On the side of it I can read:
PILKOR
WK0747
I hope this help !Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung 2493 HM issue
On a related subject, what is printed on the cap labeled 'Long Blue Cap' in the attached picture?

'De Nada.'
Now could you explain what you were referring to in your post #45? I've been going round and round these supplies, and between the lack of a schematic, obscured traces, inadequate test gear, and obtuse datasheets, it's been difficult to figure out where the actual failure lies.

Re: Samsung 2493 HM issue
Please confirm that the big cap is 82micro. If it is, measure the voltage across the legs of the cap (10 sec) and post reading.Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung 2493 HM issue
Excellent ! I just ordered it for 5.8USD postage include !
I will let you know if that fixed it !
Thanks you again !

Re: Samsung 2493 HM issue
I shorted my DMM probe and I read 0.4 ohm but I realised I made a mistake when I gave you some value of 4 ohms, it was a misreading and was actually 0.4 ohm ! Sorry about that !
I measured all the resistors around the big capacitor, here are the results:
RB801 reading 100060 OHMS vs colour code 10*10000 +/-5% OK
RB802 reading 97600 OHMS vs colour code 10*10000 +/-5% ok
RM801s reading 32.7 OHMS vs colour code 330 /10 ok
RM801 reading 0.6 OHMS vs colour code 228*0.1 problem ?
RB808 reading 2.4 OHMS vs colour code 2OHMS OK
RB803 reading 47.4 OHMS vs colour code 47 OHMS OK
Do you think the problem I have with RM801 is ue to my cheap DMM ?
My goal if possible is to find the exact faulty component so I guess I will order a MP33067P, I found one here:
http://www.futurlec.com/cgi-bin/sear...earch=MC33067P
for 2$ + 4$ shipping, can you confirm that's the right one ??
If yes, I will order it, the shipping will take 2 weeks !!
Thanks you all for your help

by KjellAfter installing Linux, I can no longer enter the BIOS of my Samsung Series 9 (NP900X3C) laptop. When pressing [F2] during boot I simply get a black screen. Same thing when pressing [F10] and choosing "Setup" from the "App Menu" tab. Apparently this is a relatively common issue with Samsung laptops of that generation, but unfortunately i haven't been able to resolve the issue (yet).
Things i've tried so far; reinstalled Windows 10, checked for redundant boot entries, tried to factory reset using the emergency keyhole, attempted to clear the NVRAM by physically...Yesterday, 09:15 AM -

by vincentedelHello,
I'm having an issue with the Samsung 740n's phase control setting. When I use the automatic adjustment, it sets the value to around 54 (with a range of 0-100), and the picture looks clear and sharp. However, after some time—like after playing a game—the text starts to look blurry. When I auto-adjust again, it may increase the value to 80, and everything becomes sharp once more. Yet, after a while, whether it's a few hours or a day later, the same blurriness returns, and I have to adjust it again.
I'm using the Samsung 740n monitor drivers instead of the default plug-and-play...-

by ManucslHello.
My TV is a QE65Q800TATXXC Samsung TV.
Issue : When you plug the 220V, voltages are OK on the power board and you can hear the click from the relay, but TV is not starting when power button is pressed. Red led is blinking when you press power button. But no images or sound ( Back-light is off )
Then if you disconnect the cable from the main board to the power supply, the TV back-light turns on.
Any ideas to check would be very appreciated 😊

by FourRunnerI purchased a used Samsung TV model UA65JS9000W recently knowing it had an issue with the screen. When switched on the picture was bright both sides of the screen but a little darker in the middle of the screen. Thinking this was the back lights (side mounted LCD strips) I replaced these, however the issue is still there. I am now thinking it may be a TCOM issue, but am not sure, any advice on this would be appreciated. Also whilst changing out the back lights I noticed the the thick clear plastic sheet (maybe 1.5 to 2mm thick) below the diffusers there is cracking (up to 75mm) on the sides and...1 Photo
