Well I am thinking that I will replace it anyhow.
    Also the CCFL's.
Any suggestions as to where to get them?

I looked into the cost and it came so close to the replacement cost it was not worth my time now.
Sort of waiting for a LED conversion now.

I have same syptoms in that it starts up and stays on for boot but after mere seconds of windows it clicks off leaving the blue led on light still lit.Didn't see any bulging caps and replaced the one small one anyway already.Should I bother testing power supply?I've not changed any of these ccfl's b4.Which ones will I need so I can come to that same conclusion that ixtlan did. That it's about as much as replacement cost anyway....thanks for info as this post has been helpful and very glad to have found this forum.Sorry Im getting an error on upload pix -security token- ??

              Re: Hannspree HF237

First time posting here...So I'm feeling a little intimidated.
I've had nearly the exact same problems with a friends Hannspree HF237HPB.
After checking for any all visual problems I went ahead and checked all the caps with my DCR ESR tester, everything tested "Good" but of courese me not trusting my equipment I went ahead and replaced ALL the caps on the main power board....no change...thinking and thinking...So I went ahead and looked around my basement for an old LCD I'd taken apart a year or so ago. Found one and low and behold it has the exact same plugs as this unit.
I hooked it all up (I'll try and post a picture of my results) and "VOILA!!" my parted out LCD screen stayed lit and nothing went into standby.
NOTE: with the original screen it stayed lit for only 1-2 seconds {even if I had a video sourse pluged in} then with the spair-parted-out LCD panel it stayed lit for about 5-6 seconds, then when I pluged in a video source it stayed on till I felt comfortable that that was the problem. "BURNT/BAD CCFLs!"
I'd never gotten into a LCD monitor as far as the CCFLs before, then after calling my friend and telling her the bad news "$$", she made me feel much better as in she had prepared for the worst....She then told me to go ahead and use her monitor as my first guinea pig and "feel free to tear apart the screen". I did and there I seen what lies the problem. (pictured below).
One side was completely burnt (which I knew when I was doing my tests with the parted-out-screen).
I contacted CCFL warehouse and found that they even allow you to send your CCFL lite bar system (aluminum casing, bulbs, wires, end caps) into them and they'll do all the work for you (currently on special for $29.95 per side...this has two sides and highly recommended to have both done at once....seeings your this far into it).
My friend doesn't want to spend that much on the monitor, however if she ends up just giving it to me, I very well may. Just to see if I can finish this job.

                Re: Hannspree HF237

                Hello all. First time poster....
I have the same monitor, same symptoms as OP.
I ordered a replacement caps kit (http://www.ebay.com/itm/230652691331...84.m1439.l2649), hoping replacing the capacitors will solve the problem.
My question is: how do I identify the Manufacturer of the caps I received? There is no name (logo, etc) on any of them, just the data (uF, Voltage and Temperature rating).
In the sellers listing it states: "We only use high quality capacitors manufactured by Panasonic, Nichicon and Rubycon in our kits. We do not use CapXon capacitors." But I can not verify that info.
Here is a couple of pictures of 2 of the caps:
                680uF/25V

                1000uF/25V

Thank you in advance for your input.

Hi - Top one looks like a Panasonc FM series it could be confirmed better
with a picture of the top and bottom .

You can check by looking at pictures of the caps on the company site.

SGHill99 is well known ebay seller on this site and is considered a good guy.
You dont get 100% good feedback on 11000 + sales if no good.
If he says they are from those manufacturers then they will be.

Bottom one looks like a panasonc FR is there a line under the pale blue neg indicator that says
                  105 degrees FR

I was not doubting the seller, as the feedback rating is a great tool to identify honest sellers (and buyers)... just out of curiosity wanted to identify their brands...
Yes, the bottom (1000uF) cap says 105ºC FR under the line.
                    The 680uF/25V has 106ºF FM [M]; the 470uF/25V has 105ºF FM [M]; and the small 10uF/50V is 105ºF FC [M].
Now all I just have to do is fire up the old soldering gun, and we'll see how it goes. Hope I can save this monitor, not ready to buy a new one right now.... but this old (backup) 17" LiquidVideo monitor is killing my eyes. And Black Friday is still pretty far away....
                    Wish me luck!

"[M]" that is Matsushita (Panasonic) logo.
I help him out and give him (Scott) the cap recommendation and listing of the caps used on the boards in the beginning when he just starting out selling cap kit for monitor repair, also allow him to use the board pictures that I have on the site. For example.

Three caps are in, six more to go, right after I take my dog, a "senior" Labrador, out for a little bit.
                        Hope this works...
Oh, I take it physical size difference doesn't matter?
Example: the 1000uF caps are quite bit different diameter

And... that's a "Negative, Ghost Rider, the pattern is full!" The capacitors are not the issue.
Same thing, screen off after about 3 seconds..... grrrr....
Well, at least I gave it a try...
Now just find a way to convince the "boss" that the new monitor IS a top priority, before the holidays...

Has anyone with this Monitor successfully replaced the CCFL tubes? If so, which model# and where did you get them?
Is it even worth the time and $$$?

No activity here in a while but heres my experience.

The same issue: Backlight turn on for a 1 second then goes out. I heard the characteristic buzzing sound at power on when I listened carefully, so right at the start I suspected the ccfls or the connections at the ccfls. Caps looked fine.

Sure enough 2 of the 4 ccfls where broken (bottom 2). From my measurements the size of the tubes are Dia 2.4mm x 525 mm long. Can someone confirm that?

Also very hard to keep the 23" lcd panel layers completely dust free. Doing my best but are a few specks of dust between the white backing and the lcd panel visible or should I not worry about it.

Was wondering if anyone had experience with ebay ccfls from china. Much cheaper then ccflwarehouse ($12.96 vs $39.80 for 4 ccfls). Would like to support ccflwarehouse but this monitor is just not worth that to me and rather trash it then spend $40 on it.

                                Thanks for any advice!

Ok confirmed that for my HF237 it was the only the broken CCFL. Haven order them yet but tested by connecting the CCFLs of another monitor and they stayed lit.

In my case the wire connections to the CCFL were fine but the glass at the ends of the CCFL had been eaten up by the arcing? I assume buzzing sound was coming from this arcing.

Going to go ahead with the ebay purchase. Will post back when get this all fixed... its probably going to be a while because shipping is from china an it looks it going to take close to a month!!!

Reporting back. My ebay order came after nearly a month! But it was a good price $12.96.

                                    This is what I bought:

I also attached a picture of broken CCFLs.

I was positive it was the CCFLs before I bought them because:
                                    1. I could power on another monitors CCFLs with the Hannspree's Inverter outputs (plug sockets)
                                    2. When I connected the Hannsprees CCFLs to the working monitor's Inverter output one pair of the Hannsprees CCFLs (the broken pair ... duh) would flash and turn off.

Will report back when I get this all fixed.

ITS ALIVE! Yes its working and there is no one here to share this with

Broke a couple ccfls in the process of stuffing the ccfls into silicone/rubber end insulators! I am typically very careful but I decided to do this when I was pretty tired. Note to self don't start these projects at the end of the day. Luckly there were 4 in total and I only need to replace 2.

That and I had to test and clean some minute dust which was between some of the man diffuser layers between the backlight reflector and the lcd panel that was causing a very slight shadow on the screen. Was only visible after assembly and turning on. So had to do this multiple times

Painful process! But now the display is spotless and no dead pixels

Hi everyone, hope all is well. I have run into a problem where my backlight screen is no longer working.

The original screen was beginning to show signs of faultiness. I believe it was part of the inverter board that was going bad. The backlight for the screen was still functional at this point. Well one night as I was tinkering with the laptop, my idiot self forgot to disconnect the battery from the motherboard. I attempted to reconnect the EDP cable onto the motherboard, and as you might guess, I saw a nice spark from the cable and the port. Don't worry, I'm still kicking myself...

                                        Hi all,

I have been working on a Samsung LN40C630K1F LCD TV. On power up the backlights only briefly light up when first powered on then they go out (2 seconds to black). The flashlight test also fails. The sound works fine. Please see attached pics.

I have researched the forums a lot. I have watched the videos of trying to locate the bad CCFL or transformer and bypassing. I can't find any evidence of a bad transformer/CCFL. I verified I get 376V from the big caps to the fuse. I have used a small/cheap oscilloscope and it looks like the MOSFETs on the inverter...

                                        Hello all,

I have a Sceptre X505BV-FMDR8HJ1PE8 tv that had been gradually over time taking longer
and longer to come on, now it will no longer display any image. Original symptoms
are the red standby LED would turn to blue immediately when pressing the power on
button, but there would be a delay for the "SCEPTRE" image to appear on the screen
and backlight to come on. The delay kept getting longer, then it would go from blue
LED back to red. Then when I pressed the power on button again it would bring the
                                        display up and work fine....

I have a question regarding one of these lenovo laptops. I have a thinkpad p1 gen 3 20th-ct01ww. Recently I've had 2 that after windows updates, it no longer detects the battery. I have tried rolling back the bios update and that didnt fix it. Is this something that requires modifying the original bios to fix or is it bios related at all ? Is this issue common. thanks.

I recently ordered a CH341a to try and fix my 2021 Tuf Dash F15 after seeing a video about Asus laptops being diagnosed as having fried mobos when they have corrupted bios. After following the steps from a YouTube video and flashing the IC chip (W25R128JVSQ; detected as a W25Q128BV on AsProgrammer) the laptop booted up for the first time in 2 years. I looked around my room for the M.2 drive I had removed from it and as soon as I came back the laptop had turned off. I assumed it automatically turned off due to inactivity but when I pressed the power button, the backlight and power button would...
