First off I would like to say hello to everyone, and say thank you for all of the knowledge you have put on this website!
I am a PC tech of nearly 13 years, and have a 9 year background in aircraft avionics, to include PCB repair. With that said I own a Weller soldering iron that i am very proficient in using, a Fluke multimeter, and a farad meter. I am also in the process of turning one of my bench PC's into a "O" scope.
My LCD monitor knowledge sucks and i am in the process of re-learning basic Electronics Principals again, and learning how LCD's work.
I have recently received a 20" Westinghouse LCD monitor from a friend that turns off on its own after about 3hrs. I opened it up and found 4 bad caps on the power side of a power/inverter board combo. Unfortunately this did not solve the problem it was having. Now the problem is a little different. Before it would just shut off, and had to be unplugged for some time before it would turn back on. Now, it starts to flicker on and off after about 5hrs or so.
I got my hands on the LCD Monitor Repair book by Jestine Yong, and have been reading through it trying to get a grasp on the problem, but have not been able to find it.
If anyone could shed some light on the situation and give me some pointers or some things to look for i would greatly appreciate it. Thank you so much for helping!!!!
