    Re: dell E173Fpf burnt parts

Hi, my board has none of the damage suffered by the op. Just C868 and R852. It looks like R852 will be 0.21 ohm as the dell 2209wa monitor has just such a resistor in the ht as a fusible 1W resistor. In my board R856 is a 5.1 ohm not 15 ohm. Second jpg shows side of heatsink where C868 committed capricide.

Second image. I just wonder whether the "hot" side of the ceramic was touching the heatsink.

Can I see the bottom side pf the board where C868 cap is to see how it is connected?
Ceramic cap tends to fail as shorts circuit.

C867 R852 and C868 form a pi filter on the ht supply so C868 is connected from R852 to ground. As C867 is 10nF 1kV, I suspect C868 is of the order of 22nF 1kV.

The 2209WA monitor has a similar arrangement with a bead in the pi not the resistor.

              Replaced C867 and C868 with nice blue 10nF 1kV ceramics, the surviving C867 didn't look the part. Replaced R852 with a 0.22 ohm 1W fusible. All o/k.

Dell E6400 PT434 type Battery Charging Stuck at 1%. Battery Pinouts?
                  by Bowline
My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.
I have tried multiple different Dell power adapters. My Dell...

Dell Inspiron 5570 and burnt parts
                  by padluke
Hello, I would like to ask if there is anyone here who could advise me if it makes sense to repair a motherboard damaged in this way. The damage occurred when the ntb was not turned off in the bag, where it got too hot. After cooling down, it wouldn't start. After removing the motherboard and connecting the adapter, the PQA01, PUI02 component burned, which is shown in the attached picture. PUA01 and PUV01 is very hot right now. Thanks a lot for any advice :-)

                  by Akhlz001
                  Hi,

Could someone help trying to unlock this BIOS, seems that Dell have changed the layout of new Dell Pro 8FC8 bioses from checking HXD - 4000 bits do not need changing, only 2000. However after FF the section starting from '01000' upto 2000 bits and then soldering the chip back it seems that the microchip on the motherboard is recovering the bios back to original settings after first boot. Has anyone found a way to crack this extra layer of security Dell have implemented? Seems both HP and Dell have upped bios security to match Lenovo by implementing extra measures on a separate...

                  Hi all,
I came across this very active forum with knowledgeable folks on electronic circuits and components, while google searching for the details of my burnt IC marked 7603 in Intel NUC board. I joined this forum today and this is my first post here.
I recently got an Intel NUC 10i5 and had installed Linux Mint and was using it for about a month when it died suddenly and did not power up after that.(Power Adaptor is ok). When I opened the NUC , there was a burnt IC marked 7603 (and ILCB in second line). I am unable to find the details/datasheet of this IC. I will be grateful if...

                  by master3112
I would like to share my experience about charging issues with Dell power supplies with the tech community. I am working on a Dell Inspiron 5590, Mainboard 18778-1 with charging problems. The device can be switched on and works so far, only the message appears at startup:

Alert! The AC power adapter wattage and Type cannot be determined. The battery may not change. The System will adjust the performace to match the power available.

The power supply unit is not recognized in the Bios and the charging process is set to "idle". I use original Dell battery, type...
