If you hookup a working computer with your favourite picture/wallpaper and see it for 2 seconds, then your logic and power board are likely fine.

Since you already replaced the caps and the secondary inverter transformer pins test fine, that leaves the ccfls and/or its wiring.

See these photos for examples of the above ...

The easiest way to test to see if you have bad ccfls is if you have another spare working lcd monitor.

I was just about to post that I found a bad lamp! Woot! At least we know what the problem is! Any suggestions on where to buy a replacement? Thanks so much for your help so far retiredcaps!

Members have good feedback dealing with ccflwarehouse.com.

You can actually call them and ask them to verify that you have the correct ccfl replacement and they have a nice pictured tutorial on how to install a new one at

        http://www.ccflwarehouse.com/lasotu.html

PS. I have no financial dealings or benefits when mentioning them.

I get mine at ccfl warehouse(ccflwarehouse.com). If they don't have it listed on their site call them and tell them what the panel part number is.

              Re: Samsung Syncmaster 2220wm

So I replaced the lamps and everything looked good. My two seconds to black was gone! So I re-assembled it all and tried to turn it on, Still good! so I put it on my desk replacing my 19" everything worked great.
I came back a little while later and the monitor had gone into sleep mode, I moved the mouse and it came back just as it should but turned off again after 2 seconds...
So this morning I tried again after leaving it unplugged over night and it was good, until I left it. When I came back two seconds to black.
Now I've tried leaving the power off for a few hours. Turning it on and off a few times, and nothing. Still have the same problem.
So if I can gather up the will this weekend I'll rip it open again, any ideas on what I should look for? Thanks

may be its not a CCFL lamp related.

I suspect cap or resister fault in inverter output side, fault trigger current sensing circuit
Check 4 capacitors in invertor output. also check the two resistors near caps.

Bummer! When you open it up again, look over the work you did with the CCFL's. Look over your CCFL wiring to make sure nothing is shorting out against the case. Are the CCFL wires soldered tightly to each CCFL electrode? Reseat each CCFL plug to their repective sockets.

I think that would be an excellent idea, I can't remember the members name but when he removed the heat sink tubing from the old CCFLwiring he nicked a wire with a razor blade. When the conditions were just right the voltage chose an easier path to ground.
Even with the small nick in the wire, things would probably been ok if I hadn't been too lazy to replenish my supply of heat shrink tubing.
Whatever I do, I consider it a success, if in the end I am breathing, seeing, feeling and hearing!

Good tip! When I re-opened the case the one ccfl wire shrink had a small nick from a sharp solder point! So I did the lazy man's fix and just put a little electrical tape on it. It's working like a charm now guys. Thanks so much!
