    ViewSonic VP2030b - ghost effect?

    Hello,
after cca 1 1/2 year after I buy this lcd, then something die and lcd will not accept signal via DVI, it takes only D-SUB. So I RMA'd lcd but after it returns from RMA now its "ghosting" (what I mean: e.g. just five minutes in total cmd and i have "nice" vertical middle line, or when I playing game like Fallout, the gui is like burned in lcd matrix). Sometimes help, when I plug off power and dvi cable for long period.

    Its lcd repairable?

Currently i have grey/dark line (cca 1inch) above taskbar, although I change the position of taskbar from time to time (up and down).

Please attach images to your posts by using "Manage Attachments" instead of an external service, you will get more help here when you do. It sounds like a bad panel though.

Thank you! I have a couple Viewsonic VP201s that looks like they use the same panel, and they also do something similar around the top edges of the panel after 30 minutes or so. Like yours, it goes away after being powered off for awhile. It's my opinion that this is the panel itself and is not repairable (other than replacing the entire panel).

I agree looks like a faulty lcd panel.

Oh, man. The lcd is not so old... Mfg jan 2007, but after RMA it tells me 01 2005.

Hello, I just opened the lcd and found some puffy capacitors (marked with red dot - Image is an illustrative character, taken from showthread.php?t=8263, I make realfoto as soon as I have a camera).

So, can be this the reason for "ghost effect" on lcd matrix?
Should I replace the caps? If so, tell me please with what.
              Thank you.

Bulged caps can cause a number of problems so it is best to replace them.

If you live in the USA, follow PlainBill's instructions to buy Panasonic FC or FM caps from digikey. See

The two caps next to the white connector also look bulged. You should consider replacing ALL the caps on the board. Looks like they're mostly made by the same manufacturer and it's only a matter of time before the non- bulged ones fail (if they haven't done so already).

2 jetadm123 Thanks, this foto is only for illustration, all caps on this pcb seems to be made by Teapo.

(uploaded to abload, due to restriction of badcaps)

Things go from bad to worse. I reassembled lcd, and now the view is bad (like shakes). Before that, the lcd is working fine except the lines and ghost effect.

Can u help me please? Can be this due bad contact (logic board to lcd matrix)?

One problem was fixed, but another occurs.
Now, after power up lcd, the lcd is slightly darker, but after five minutes it blinks and possibly light up one or more lamps or do something like that - so the view is oveburnt, therefore I must set under 50% contrast and brightness. Maybe it's due to fact, that I have rear cover open...

Damn I tought that ViewSonic is good brand.

PS: Tell me please, which caps I should replace.

Today, lcd goes black - no view even if I disconnect from the pc (I should see message No signal and lcd then should turn off), but power led is still green. It seems that logic board with bad caps are malfunction or in the worst case died.
