    Philips Streamium (MCi900)

    Hey folks...

I have accepted a work for a client, he came over with this Philips Streamium
a compact stereo with a Class D amplifier that was dead.

Fixed the powersupply in the unit a dried out capacitor on the primary
caused it not to start switching fixed that, now the powersupply works
    all the voltages on secondary is correct 2.2 - 3.2 - 5 - 9 - 12 - 30V etc.

But the unit fails to boot all i get is a white screen for 10sec then i will see the clock symbol --:-- for 5sec then it goes in sleep sort of the background illumination remains on and it behaves strangely no responce from any keys neither remote.

I did esr check all the capacitors after this no problems but still not
my favorite brand CapXon urrrgh but all are fine on the ESR meter
doubt changing them will make a difference.

I also noticed if i take the voltage up slowly through the Variac from 0-110-120V (230V mains in sweden) then it boots up to an "emergency firmware restore" function it gets an IP address 192.168.88.28 but it tells me
no internet, strange all other equipment is going on the same network through
a MikroTik router. Start thinking could this one block the ports needed for it
    shall try again tomorrow.

But me personally i believe that the firmware on this device is corrupt, it has a JTAG header so if i can obtain a firmware i could flash it. I also looked to see if it has a serial flash that i could remove and flash too.

Included the Servicemanual if someone might think of something i missed lol

I know this is old. Recently I have repaired one Philips MCI300 and two Philips WAC3500 D12, both Streamium. Fixed the power supplies (dry electrolytics). What i have discovered, and it was quite a surprise, well the glue used to fix various components and sockets on amp board and on the main board has turned from white to brown and it was conductive. It was a major pain in the a... to clean it: acetone, polypropylene brush, needle, magnifying glass. Quite a mess. I have dislocated a SMD ceramic cap and had to replace it, so the process was not without risks. Also, I had to replace the green 35V, 470uf green caps on amp board.

Canon G3430 has a lightning flash after the firmware
      by zoltor
Good afternoon. The Canon G3430 is lit by lightning after the firmware, it does not respond to the buttons. I did not flash it, they brought it with traces of soldering, and all three chips. SPI - IC401 25Q128, IC402 25Q32, IC403 M24128. The SPI flash drives may have been confused in places. The QM8-0985 formatter. I've tried all the firmware available on the Internet, and the result is the same. I ask you to send dumps of chips, if someone has the same revision of the board, also tell me if the location of the SPI flash corresponds to the position numbers. Thank you very much in advance.

Nikon D800 camera - flash don’t work and capacitor don’t charge
      by corrize
      Hello, I'm stuck in troubleshooting…
The flash system works like that : when the (mechanic) flash button is pressed, the flash mecanically pop up, and a circuit buck boost elevate 7v (batt) to 200-300v (?) for charging the big capacitor. And when the photo shoot button is pressed, the capacitor is discharged in the xeon light.

In the D800, there is a first « power board » close to the battery. 2 wires (batt 7v) goes to another little « flash board ». I measured 7v, so ok.
When I press the flash button, it's detected by the system, flash icon appear on LDC display....

      Ubiquiti firmware help. US-8-150W POE
      by gurj1979
      Hi guys.

I've got a Ubiquiti US-8-150W POE switch which has issues with updating the firmware.
Turned out to be a bad EEPROM chip. It would read the firmware and work as normal, but failed to write new firmware to it.

So I took off the chip and read on EEPROM and saved it. Wrote to old chip and failed to write
Got New chip and writes good.

      THE PROBLEM...
It fails to fully load the firmware, POE lights fail to work during g firmware test during load. I'm suspecting bad EEPROM Read.

Does anyone have a Good Firmware I can have?...
