Vintage Akai-52 /turn off when turn volume control/

Hi. I have perfect voltage everywhere, amp work, but if i turn volume from 0 to 1, relay turn off.

If i disconnect input cable, and connect only speakers, and turn volume max, all is normal(relay doesn't turn off)
If i disconnect all cables /output and input/ turn volume max all is normal (relay doesn't turn off)

When i connect input cables and press 'PLAY'' button on cd player or tablet, relay turn off.
I change input cable but without result. I have this problem in every input /tape1, tape2, aux, cd.../

I check voltages on M5218 / M5238 - all normal. I check also idle adj. is 20mv, normal.
Open relay and clean, all normal.
Do you have any idea? ://

There may be a error in the OUTPUT stages. Look for cold solder joints, open load resistor or weak capacitors. Of course test the pre-amp and output transistors, they might have become leaky due to aging.

I resolded all joints, I fuseable resistor checked /perfect/. I test some capacitors on input board with esr meter, but they are good.

        The speaker relays turn off?
Try turning OFF the SOURCE DIRECT switch #2 as shown on page 4 and see what happen.

C2 at IC1 should block DC from getting to the volume control.
The protect-relay cap maybe open C115/C116 at IC102. This would make it trip with any "thump".
Otherwise, since this is a DC-coupled power amp with a servo IC101, I would check C109/C108.

I remove Source Direct, but no result. Check C115/C116/C108/C109, they are good. You can see what happen on my video.

How about C119, C117, and as others as marked?

Re: Vintage Akai-52 /turn off when turn volume control/

In the video, IC102 trips when the volume is up.
With BAL control I would see if it is L or R channel doing this or both.
That looked like over-current trip as if shorted loudspeaker or open C113 (by TR112).

Hi. Thanks for reply. Amplifier work now!!! The problem was ... output wires short on the right chanel in amplifier. Do you have any idea how is possible to short this wires??? Every parts in this amp is perfect (c113 was perfect, tr112 also). Thanks all who reply in my topic.

Good find, but I did not expect you to get sound on both speakers unless it is not a dead short between speaker terminals. It looks like common mode choke to stop RF from coming in to the amp through the speaker outputs.

Sony HCD-HX80R Amplifier Volume Control Problem
                      by crackedprint
I have a strange fault on a Sony amplifier. The volume control varies the display from MIN, then 1 up to 30 and then MAX as expected. At MIN there is no sound. However, at 1 it is quite loud and increasing above 1 does not change the sound level.

I have tried a Cold Reset as per the service manual.

I have looked at the I2C clock and data to volume control chip IC501 (BD3499FV). Data is only sent to IC501 when the volume is set to MIN or 1. At any other setting no data is sent to IC501.

I have looked all the way through the service manual and tried many online...

Sansui Integrated Amplifier replacement volume control troubles

Hi all you clever electronmic gooroos!

I was wondering if you could help me with the below issues Im having on a Sansui Integrated amplifier. I bought this unit as a project to repair as Im playing around with basic electromics. The unit has a faulty volume control pot. The service maual refers to a 150K Logarithmic pot (A) tapered stereo. Im struggling to find this value. Seem to be a jump from 100K to 250K. Im now trying a 250K pot. It works but the problem is that as the volume is turned up from starting at Min the Left channel will come on first just slightly before the Right...

                      by redwire
I had an Onkyo SR607 with a volume control encoder not working, turning the knob up the volume number would move around crazy and not work reliably.
Took it out and apart and no, it's not oxide or cleaning, lube required etc.- the metal is simply worn out. It's a 30mm part with metal bushing.

Volume control encoder Onkyo P/N 25065655W, Alps EC12E2425 is some oddball variant I could not find. I did the dig and tried replacement part Alps EC12E2420803 and it works/fits just like the original. Mouser 688-EC12E2420803 for $3.00

I am Repairing this unit. It had many problems. One major one was the power transformer being about 4-5 volts low on the main B+ line which called for 66.5 Vols after the Main Filter caps but only showing about 62 Volts. Caps and the 5 amp Diode bridge were replaced which helped slightly.

The other strange problem was the small secondary winding from the PT which supplies 18 Volts AC to the "FM FLUORESCENT DISPLAY" circuit, and the small winding that supplies 8 Volts AC to the push button grain of wheat lamps. Those voltages were down from 18 Volts to 16 volts. Which was...

Samsung TV won't turn on ... keeps cycling the power relay on & off
                      by Journey11
                      Hi All,
First time posting here ... my name is Kevin but my friends call me Journey.
I have a Samsung 75" LCD model UN75RU8000FXZA that I don't remember the original fault other than it wouldn't power up anymore.
After it sat for many month's I decide to look at it again. The motherboard seemed to have power regulation issues. After much fussing I decided to just get a new MB.
It came a few days ago and I installed it now just cycles the power relay on and off ... when on the backlights light up and then dim and then relay kicks off and the whole things starts again....
