Teac CD PD-H400 Tray Opening Intermitantly

    Hello

I have just "inherited" a Teac CD player because the drawer will not open, I have just opened it up and place a CD in and the machine seems to work OK except for the drawer
On pressing the open/close button it can work repeatedly then 10 minutes later it wont!
When it works, it works well, not stiff or sticking
Unplugging and re-plugging seems to fix the problem ---for a while!

I am very much an newbie on this stuff so may have missed something very obvious

    Give me a clue!

    Many thanks in anticipation

Most have a rubber belt running the tray in and out and it stretches. Like STJ mentioned you'll hear the little motor run for a few seconds.

I was going to say no,but I have just been playing with it far the last 10 mins and it worked repeatedly for about 25 times then stopped and when trying there is a very short run of a motor

I don't immediately see any belts ...lots of geared wheels and toothed racks

It is quiet a sizeable and well built looking mechanism, but I have yet to take it out of its chassis/case

I find it strange that it works immediately after a reconnecting the power as if it has rebooted or something

Do you think it needs to come out?

the belt is under the tray at the front - you have to remove the tray to see it.

to do that, you need to press one or two clips at the back of the tray or on the frame to let it pull right out.

            Thanks
            I can see it now
It is still intact but I assume that it is worn/perished/stretched
Any suggestions how I determine the correct size?

            Many thanks

See attached best photos I can do

I would not describe as tight as there is not a straight line --it seems to bow a little
                suggestions?

                Thank you

for now, take it off and clean it and the rollers with ipa,
then try to work out the diameter so you can find another.

Sounds a bit odd but i saw a video the other day on how to measure belts the person took the old belt of then used dental floss he wraped it around the two pulleys like the old belt went tied a knot when it was tight he cut the floss and measured it then ordered the correct lengh belt i will try to find the video and link it.

That's one way I've used. If I had a good belt left, I'd just squeeze it together and measure it. Then double it and pick the next smaller standard diameter. Remember it's stretched out a bit. That looks like a square belt too.

You need to know where to get one too. Those chinese belts only last about 6 months. I put them in a cassette deck that is probably the hardest one you'll ever see to change belts in. I was not happy when it quit working because of those brand new belts.

                            by ChaosLegionnaire
i started using a couple of my optical drives again to perform some testing and backup but to my disappointment, they have tray loading problems. both drives wont eject the tray and when i load the tray back, it auto ejects the tray again. it seems that the laser sled assembly in the drives wont drop down fully to the correct position to release the tray and the laser sled assembly wont extend back up to the proper position to lock and load the tray so it auto ejects the tray again.

i tried lubricating the gears in the tray loading mechanism and the tray sled rails but it didnt...

                            by bogosort

                            Hello,

I have a Sony DVD player with a stuck tray. It seems that moving or pressing on the tray makes it work.

                            Anyone knows why?

                            Thank you....

                            PS5 Disk Tray issues.
                            by welp
I have a PlayStation 5 CH-1215A with a Disk drive not reading disks anymore. (accepting and ejecting very slowly.)
Knowing the PS5 has a married daughter board for the disk drive I made sure to use that and replace the rest of the disk tray as it* was owned previously by an indoor smoker.
Once the job was complete and put back everything together, I tried to insert a disk with no luck at all...
So, I checked voltage going from the ps5 to the daughter board and am only getting the 5V rail.
With that knowledge I preceded to check all the fuses for the 12v rail on the main...

The mechanism works in other unit, and the working mechanism does the same in this broken unit. So the fault must be in the motherboard. Eject may open the tray with a second try, but it will not close or play any disc.
