Cheap eBay MP3 players - how to reduce noise ?

Hi,

I just bought a couple of cheap MP3 player on eBay. They do what I'm expecting them to do, playing MP3 files stored on a micro SD card.
The problem is there's quite a bit of background noise. It's not the files, it's the player.
I was thinking about adding a small capacitor or some kind of filter to remove the noise, but I'm not sure what and where.

I've opened one up and unsurprisingly it's pretty bare in there, everything is controlled by this single chip. It's a JL (or JC) AB1532CG2616.1-67. I can't find the datasheet or any documentation about it. I see one capacitor, a led and a few blank spots for a couple of capacitors and a diode.

I've included a picture of the internals, and another one with a similar cheap eBay mp3 player that has served me well until the power switch broke a second time. This one uses a 2Gb flash chip instead of the micro SD slot. This one didn't have any noise issue.

I see two things that could be causing the noise issues:

First, all of the flux residue all over the boards.

Second, some crappy soldering.

I would clean all the flux residue off of the boards and touch up any solder joints that aren't nice and shiny.

Try that and let us know how it goes.
