    Denon PMA-735R

My friend has killed another of his amps and i am hoping someone can help me to understand what is going on. It went off after playing two 12" subs.
The amp powers up. the led comes on, i hear the relays click but there is no sound. There is 90v going into the hot circuit of the transformers but nothing coming out.
If there was a short on the main board would that stop the transformers outputting or is it the transformers that are dead ?

Apologies for the poor photos i smashed my S3.

check the power transistors for shorts before you do anything else.

I have unsoldered them from the board and tested each in turn, no shorts found.

Do you get any DC voltage on those two main power supply filter caps (C103, 104)?
There are 3 relays, one (on a small board with small transformer T101) for powering up the two power transformer, the other two are for the speakers protection. Do you know if the speaker relays come on?
All the fuses are tested OK?

Perhaps his 12" subs are rated for 4 Ohms and the amp is rated for 8 Ohms?

I know this may sound stupid, but did you set you meter to measure AC voltage instead of DC? That 90V on the input seems a bit odd. Check the rectifying diodes that are connected to the output of the transformers (with the power off, of course) - i.e. see if any of them are shorted. I presume that would be the devices attached to the smaller heatsinks next to those large caps. If the diodes are okay, turn ON the amp and carefully measure the DC voltage across the two big caps. If none, the transformers may have a fuse inside them that has blown. If not, do you hear any harsh buzzing coming from the transformers when you power ON the amp?

Hey guys, I'm repairing a Denon AVR X6400h for my brother. It quit powering on after a power outage. It acted like this last time there was an outage, but after letting it sit overnight it started working again for a few years. This time letting it sit did not bring it back.

Denon AVR-X4000 – Fast red blinking after 2nd relay
            by SevenOFF
            Hi everyone,

I’m working on a Denon AVR-X4000 that goes into protection mode (fast red blinking LED) shortly after the second relay click.

According to the service manual, a fast red blinking LED indicates a DC detection (DC_DET) or ASO (abnormal current) fault, meaning the unit is detecting a potentially dangerous condition on the power amp or power supply side.

Here’s what I’ve done so far:
            • Fully opened and cleaned the unit (a lot of dust inside)
            • Removed and visually inspected the AMP board → nothing visibly damaged or burned
            • Testing is done with

Denon AVR-X3600H No sound even to pre outs in direct analog mode. Help please!
            by FuzzyOwl
Hi, I have a Denon AVR-X3600H I'm trying to repair. I have no electronics repair experience but I have a multimeter, service manual and a will to fix it (https://device.report/m/d5de8c00e617...f63147aba9.pdf)

Everything seems to work except for no sound even through the pre outs. However I will get sound using Zone 2 pre outs.

Only digital symptom I can tell is it will soft lock when in the Speakers/Test Tone menu and be unable to adjust +/- db during the test tone.

I've followed the trouble shooting guide, audio check...

Denon AVR 1908, High pitch noise on Surround back Left channel after long overhaul
            by karatzdi
            Hello,

I know some might say... just buy another one. Sell it as parts..!

So had this AMP for quite some time. Recently I saw light smoke coming out of the AMP. Had my fire extinguisher close by. Just kidding. Turned immediately all devices off from mains.
Let things cool a bit, and opened up the amp device. I clearly saw on the main board which hosts the 5X amp (5.1), 3 10 ohms 1W resistors had their leads looking black, while the rest of the remaining 2 x 10 ohms were brownish as being installed from factory.

Spent some time downloading the Service...
