Beosound Overture CD wont spin some help

Hi to all in this forum.

I have in hands a B&O Overture that CD wont spin.

Have clean laser and diode.

Have made the tests with service mode.

1- test focus (i can see light with camera)
2 - off
3 - Spin clockwise (ok)
4 - Stops
5 - Moves laser (ok)

Changed caps on mech board all 6.

Any ideia????

There should be small lever contact switch or microswitch that is activated when the tray goes fully inside the player. You have to figure out where this switch is located (different places on different CD players). Have you checked that one?

There´s a switch when laser comes up to the top ner spin motor, have checked the contact.

Does the CD spin several times and device try to read it, or do you only get a single spin and single blink from laser.
I'm thinking maybe the laser is going weak/bad.

Hi

Just changed today the laser.

Now it spins you can hear the laser moves but stops spining.

Like the laser did´t found focus.

Did not change any ajustment. Just Caps

When you say the laser moves, do you mean that the entire laser asembly module moves too, or just the laser lens?

the entire assembly tries to focus the cd spin then stops

What i´ve check is the service manual that i have the board that controls CD and adjustments are diferente, can´t find resistor that ajusts current to laser it should be on board nº8.

But there there is no resistors ajustments.

The manual says that when you change the laser that´s the first thing to do, or CD will spin and stops because exceeds 25mv.

Help in this isssue. Please

Maybe the adjustable resistor was moved on the laser assembly? Or see if they just bypassed the adjustable resistor with regular resistors.

Other than that, you may have to find the driver for the diode yourself and mod the circuit yourself to adjust the laser current. Probably not easy to do, though.

I beleve that should be another service manual for a futher modification model, or the new laser that bought is´t the right.

I´ve read in other foruns that B&O made several lasers and board control and all diferent, mine is one from 1995 that i changed the caps.

i ask, could it be also the caps? i´ve put normal caps and the ones that came on original board was smd, but i dont beleve that was the problem.

Hello, I have similar (actually, worse) scenario on my used Beosound 4000 (USA version)... I'm wondering how can you proceed to CD test mode? I am able to enter TESTMODE via press PROGRAM 2 6 3 0 and play around some basic modes (e.g. SW version, display...) but when I follow the manual and press CD (try to enter CD test mode), the system seems to exit TESTMODE and just resume standard CD operation mode??

My CD was able to spin but create scratching sound...then I open it up try to clean the dust. and after the connecting cables are putting back - now it won't even spin I may short the circuit (power into the CD module?)... Anyone konw how to get to the "power section" of the beosound4000??
