Radio Like Buzz from left channel

So after my old set of speakers broke I was given a small set of speakers from a friend, they have served me well for the last 6 months but now the front right channel has started tiny radio like buzzing noise when when nothing is playing or the volume is all the way down. I have swapped speakers but it it happens with the other speakers on this channel as well. So definitely not speakers but the amplifier circuitry inside the sub woofer.

I opened the sub up, everything looks fine, I am thinking a dry joint or maybe a ground loop? What should I be looking for??

they are small cambridge speakers, here's some pictures, it will show make model number and everything.

edit: some noise and buzzing goes away when I touch a heat sink with a screw driver with my hand on the metal, thus grounding it a bit)

That is conductive brown glue on the input board, it is corrosive and conductive, I can see it on the ribbon cables which carry the audio signals. Is the glue also on the main board?

Its not on the main board but they put this crap glue all around the sister board. It cant be the glue since it worked fine all this time, I think something gone bad maybe a cap or a lose ground connection? an suggestions?

Yes, it can be bad ground, but as glue gets older, it will conduct signals (I had problem with cross talk due to glue on the ribbon cable on the multi-track recorder, we are talking about signal in the mili-volt range). But you have indicated that the noise is still present when the volume is all the way down, so it must be in the circuit after the volume control. Where is the volume control located at, at one of the speaker?

Yes the noise is like an old radio buzzing that can be heard about 1 feet close to the speaker, it is still there even after the volume nob is all the way turned down to 0. It has a separate volume control that connects the rear of the sub using 2 3.5mm cables(Front out and Rear out). Have a look at the image. You think its the pod?

Re: Radio Like Buzz from left channel

That volume control is more likely to be variable DC voltage for controlling the electronics volume control circuits on the main board, it is done that way so the wires to pot will not be affected by picking hums and noise on the long wires to the Volume pot, it will only need 3 wires instead of 9 (8 audio, 1 common ground) wires to control 4 amplifiers. I can only see two IC power amps (2 2-ch per IC amp), but it has 5 speakers total, so I do not know what the setup is yet.

It has 4 satellite Speakers & a sub. So I think one IC is for the 4 Speakers and the other for Sub. should I re solder the IC's and other joints?

HH Scott Model A510 Stereo Integrated Amplifier/ Graphic EQ - Blowing fuses in the LEFT speaker channel only. Any Help???
                    by Sik_6ty_Sixx
So like the title says, I have an old Stereo Receiver/Amplifier that I picked up from the goodwill, it's a HH Scott Model A510. When I first got it home it had zero output. Opened it up, notice the fuses are missing. Pop in 2 new fuses (AGC4A 250V) and try again, within 5 seconds the L channel fuse POP! I don't see any visible indications of damage or arc burns on the PCB, no popped resistors or diodes, no burnt traces or blown out caps. So I decide to just try another new fuse, POP. Swapped around my R and L speaker wires, and checked the integrity of all wires and connections. Everything looks...

Yamaha Stagepas 300 PA system repair
                    by DAVEMAC02
I have a Yamaha Stagepas 300 PA system with the left channel out. There are separate power inputs to each Power Amplifier. I repaired the left channel amplifier so both work. However, I still have no left channel output to speaker. Both speakers are good. I have a multimeter and an old Radio Shack signal tracer for troubleshooting and that's it. I checked all voltage inputs to both amps and they match. Don't know how to proceed to check or trace signals or voltages at amp outputs BEFORE they go to speakers. Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance, Dave

old X58 triple channel board... memtest86 memory speed?
                    by eccerr0r
Anyone run memory speed tests with an old X58-based triple channel 1st gen or any other >2 channel board? The one I have is a Gigabyte I think.

Anyway I had four 4GB DDR3-1333 modules in the 6 memory slots and got around 11GB/sec memory speeds assuming that it went dual channel since it didn't have enough modules for triple channel. Now I stuck in two more 4GB modules, but they are DDR3-1600. I'm still getting 11GB/sec speeds according to memtest86...

Just wondering, anyone do memory speed analysis on these triple (and higher) channel memory boards? Are there any...

Philips F9217L-50R speakers – build quality impressions and DIY surround repair
                    by momaka
More Lo-Fi speakers and another DIY surround repair. The patient this time: a pair of Philips F9217L-50R speakers from a budget Philips rack/component system from the '80's. The system belongs to my brother in-law… or actually his parents. However, they didn't want it when they moved houses and he liked it anyways, so he ended up keeping it. It's a pretty cool-looking vintage system with a wood/veneer cabinet and shelves for records and cassettes. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to take a picture of it or get the model #'s (but maybe next time I visit, if anyone is curious?)
