Boss delay DD-3 (square ship taiwan) problem

I have a Boss DD-3 (square chip taiwan version) in my bench with a very weird problem. I found no similar problem online, nor a solution for it. It is driving me nuts.

It passes sound on bypass no problem but as i turn it on it has a constant a noise (that can be clearly shaped by Delay Time, Volume and Mode, but very subtle by Feedback).

    - sounds ok on bypass
    - noise is there even without input connected.
    - all electrolitic caps were changed (!)
    - all tantalum caps were checked, ok.
    - most ceramics were cheked. too many to keep track.
    - many resistors checked.

First i thought it would be a feedback problem (because it sounds as if it has almost infinite feedback). but even removing the feedback pot and the caps around it, the noise continues. I am afraid it is the main chip that's gone bad.

Anyone experienced something similar with this classic pedal?

I have the exact same problem, I started another thread about it. Did you ever find a resolution? At this point I'm looking at IC8 as being the problem.

The problem is the DRAM. I replaced the IC and its fixed now. Hopefully this helps someone in the future.

Thanks for the follow up. Schematic says IC6 is M5M4464L-12 DRAM, I think you meant that not IC8 some op-amp.

Yes and no. IC6 was the problem. When I posted originally, I speculated IC8 because of the waveforms. However, I misunderstood the DAC process, and with some help from another forum, I narrowed it down to DRAM.

            OK that makes sense.
Commonly I see guitar pedal's input get zapped from static electricity, the tip of the 1/4" jack which can kill/damage the input stage.
JFET or op-amp if a pedal uses that.

i have a laptop here that came for this error

              and daley in boot
i flashed bios with different files, aslo clean ME files
              but delay was still there

is there any other reason for 15 sec delay in boot?

bose soundlink color 2 strange behavior
              by Steadily7-Colossal0
My dad gave me his bose soundlink color 2, claiming that the charging port was loose. I opened it up, plugged it in, probed around with a multimeter, and I can measure 5V all over the board. I wiggle the charging cable around, no change. The port looks fine: sturdy, clean contacts. I measure across the battery wires and I get 0V, so I assumed the battery was the problem. But then a few minutes later after I disconnected and re-connected the daughter board with the buttons, lights were flashing and I was reading 3.3V across the battery wires. The only logical explanation for this I could come up...

Boss TU-2 Tuner lagging upon hitting footswitch
              by Soma89
My tu2 boss tuner has about a 5 second pause before it can start tuning. Doesnt matter how the pedal is powered, it always has this brief lag before it senses a note. Only upon hitting the footswitch from off to on. What part do you think can be causing this? I will add a schematic..can it be a power supply or footswitch issue?

Good morning, can anyone send me the "Boss audio BX-45" diagram or check the acronym of the Q3 and Q4 transistors. Because from the previous repair I find myself (Q3 2N5551) while (Q4 SS8050) and it doesn't seem correct to me. Can anyone help me thanks.
