    TDA2030A Audio Power Amplifier Question
    by RetroComputingGrotto
My boss always says "the only stupid question is the one not asked" so at the risk of asking a stupid/obvious question I'm going to one any way...

I've got a pair of speakers with an amp built in to them in for repair and on inspection I can see the TDA2030A amplifier ICs have blown (so I've ordered some spares which should arrive soon):

My quesion is with regards to the white paste you can see on the TDA2030A and heatsink, I'm assuming this is just some thermal paste and if so is it a special kind or will the grey thermal compound that I have...

General Question(s) & Question About USB Jtag u-Link NT
    by Whale linguini
I'm not sure if I am posting this in the right spot, I don't have any question or anything specific to one board. I am *kinda* starting out with this kind of work. I have been IT in one role or another for my job the last 30 years, and I am familiar enough with basic board stuff generally speaking. So, I dunno for example if someone told me to find a uart header, or flash some generic tsop8 something, etc I understand that kind of stuff. Point being, I'm not 100% clueless. I just don't have the specific knowledge when it comes to some of these more advanced repairs. I actually have spent the last...

hack upgradinghp stream 14 cb storage -id gpio resistors question
    by kokodin
Hello. the title might be a bit strange, but thiss is a passion project. Something more similar to what Dosdoode1 does on youtube than regular repair.
As much as Dosdoode hates planed obsolecense on mack boards i have something against garbage tier hp products, so i rescured some to experiment on. I have already discovered an "easy way" to put both sata and nvme ssd's on hp stream 14 ax motherboards, replaced cpu from celeron to pentium and published my successes on few repair forums so people could fix those boards when emmc chip dies. but now i would like to do the same for cb...

General Question- Electronics from 70's and 80's
    by proton32064
I have a question since I am new here and I don't know if this is the right forum to ask these questions or if I am wasting your time.
I am 67 and have a lot of Radios and Electronics I grew up with which puts a lot of them at 50 years or older.
A lot of the capacitors are obviously bad but this is my problem.
An example would be the Panasonic RC-7469 Clock Radio and the Panasonic RF-888 Radio.
I have others like a Canon L-162 Nixie Desktop Calculator 110AC, etc.

I have the Service Manuals to some of these and other electronics I have and grew up with and...

    A2289 820-01987 Question Mark
    by Instafixx
    Hello,
    Namaste.

I have a Macbook A2289 that came in for repairs citing a reboot issue. Switched it on and i got a Question Mark folder icon. Navigated to recovery and found that the machine is detecting SSD. Went ahead to do a internet recovery but the machine kind of stops midway and boot back to the question mark folder.\
Tried re-installing from a bootable usb. Same Issue.

    The machine overheats and stops.

Board is clean. No dirt, dust or corrosion.
