Help needed diagnosing and repairing a PC engine LT, currently looking at oscillator
    by soop
Hello all. I'm currently trying to repair a damaged PC engine LT (a portable games console circa 1991)I got a few years ago. The thing had 10+ lifted pads and three lifted traces from corrosion from bad caps when I got it, and the first step was to clean it and repair the traces and pads as best I could using some copper and a high temperature two part epoxy, then replace the capacitors. Of course it would be amazing if that had fixed the console, but things are never so simple. I've double checked the capacitors, and I'm (90%) confident that they have connectivity where they need to have connectivity,...

Question on microprocessor crystal oscillator circuit
    by Keshenatech1
I'm troubleshooting a reel controller board for an IGT slot machine. The digital section seems to be dead. There is no USB communication, PC or utility program for flashing firmware do not see it but they do see good/working boards. I noticed the waveform on the crystal is very erratic/asymmetrical/glitchy on the bad one compared to the nice even waveform on a good board. My question is would this most likely be caused by a bad crystal or something gone bad in the circuit loading it down? I'm attaching a couple pictures of my scope probing the good and bad boads.

MS-6178 Pentium III motherboard - bizarre fault with RTC oscillator
    by dicky96
    Hi guys
This is another motherboard which I put on one side about a year ago

The original thread is here, but ended up in the BIOS.Schematics requests section when things got moved around, though a lot of it is about the faults I was finding on this motherboard. The schematic is on that thread

    https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showth...hlight=ms-6178

So last time I looked at this, there was too much current being drawn from the CMOS battery. I eventually found a short circuit near the SIO that I most certainly caused myself....

THINKPAD helix LPN 1 TABLET MB 12H18-2 schematics request

    the board model is:

    LPN-1 TABLET MB
    12H18-2
    48.4WW01.021

Hi i have this laptop (i5 tablet+keyboard), there is an oscillator (OSC1) that reach 65°C (never seen something like that)
on the 4pin SMD surface of oscillator there is printed 0.0327 and 301 (with a symbol) , on 2 pins of the board there is 1.8V ..1 is ground and 1 is without any voltage (probably the output) .. the laptop is starting, fan is spinning fast there is a sync on external DP monitor but shows a black screen on both screens (the integrated one that is probably the faulty one that...
