    Customer Test my knowledge!

Customer said " sound no picture", 32" LED TV, OK, Its common LEDs problem, $50 to fix your TV, I got an APProved..

I tested with my poormans LED screen tester show as PIC1, LEDs screen has no problem.

pic2 shows someone has opened the LEDs screen before me, with the LED tester result I dont think I need to open the screen, TESTER shows all LEDs are good.

pic3 I jump the power-on and BL-on, the back-lite did not come on, has 12v and 5v, it is LED driver problem (shows 18.9v).
, with power PCB ebay for $31.95, I need to have at least $75 to do the job, maybe TV has man-made problems, new cheap LED TV cost $100, Lets see!!

PS: In my service area, lots of DIYs.

Bad news, He rejected me, said " I can order the mother board and fix myself", this is the second customer do that to me during this week, because I have free estimate for customers, spend an hour check TV, told them whats wrong with the TV, Thank you and bye-bye, i can do it myself. ....

Customer just leave said " Thank ju and u have A good day."

I did that before, the estimate fee will toward the repair bill, but everyone love free estimate because they will call me ask on the phone, or come in person, with the TV in the car, ask first see if it is free estimate, then action.

It is perfectly acceptible to charge a fee for evaluation and estimate the repair. If not, your customers get free advice from you the expert. Your time is worth something, and the estimate charge will usually weed out the jokers from the real customers. My personal opinion.
          Is it plugged in?

One elegant well-educated lady, from US heartland Missouri, she is a SnowBird comes here for avoid severe winter, said Sanyo DP32640 TV makes a loud noise, I replied " I need to open the TV cover to see what's going on."

she smiles at me and said " you don't have x-ray vision to see through, and tell me the problem." I swallowed and said " I can't." but my mind is thinking something evil about the x-ray vision and she laughs and said "I'm just teasing you.”

After she left , I opened TV, noise is from the CCFL connectors, I said “it's not worth even $40 to fix that TV, I did check the ballast board but I did not see any sign of bad connections, the noise must be from inside the screen, to open the screen is a job, so uses this TV until it happened again then sales it and buys yourself a new one .”

She picked up the TV said “ How much i owe you?”. I said “Free estimate is free estimate!” . She said NO! , she put 2 $5 bills in my hand and hold my hand said “'This is nothing! this is nothing! “ and she leaved. Suddenly MIRACLE happens......Yes miracle......Yes I have A vision like superman.....YES, I have the x-ray vision to see though her angel's heart and her angel's $5 bills has my teardrops on it..................

charge for call outs for sure .
try not saying it needs a certain board . say what parts the board needs and the cost .
if they want to replace parts on the board it is then up to them to do so .
no fix no fee only applies if you cannot possibly fix it . it is not your fault if they dont want to spend the money .
trouble is some people have big money .others have hardly anything .

Capwizard; Knowing the problem is more than half of the solution , and most of the customers do that , so no need to inform them but the repair costs and the estimated time . If you're the too much good heart to apply that , then you can charge reasonable fees for the diagnosis time .
