    Why this modification ?

Iam a newbie when it comes to this electronics stuff.

Now i have two radio/cd players that are the exact same model but have different revisions for the PCB.

I just wondered what the thinking was for the extra Diode on the newer pcb ?

Higher voltage drop, more surface to dissipate heat on , that's pretty much it.

It looks like the board lay out has D14 and D15 connected in series and someone put a solder bridge to bypass D14, so basically right now D14 is not used, but D15 is used as the same function as D14 in the original board.
