    Motherboard Power-On Circuit

    I've recently run into a few motherboards that won't power on when jumping the power button pins. Going back to the root of all evil I first checked my PSU for the +5v Standby then checked it all the way to the pin. All Good. Even checked other standby places on MB and got the +5v. PSU will kick if jumping the Green wire on the 24 pin connector but will immediately shut off when pulled. When it is running I'm not getting normal post nor video. I have repaired alot of SB950 chipsets for video problems in the past. so my question is. Does the Power_On circuit also run through the South Bridge and it being bad create a fault in the Power_On Circuit.

    I sem to be running into more and more of these boards with this issue and would like to figure this out. This particular board is the Asus M5A97.
    Any ideas on this would be greatly appreciated.

      Hi All, I have a 9th Gen Dell Optiplex micro PC motherboard which doesn't power on. When I connect the motherboard with power adapter, it goes into safe mode and turns off. So from info I have gathered online, it looks like there is a short circuit on the motherboard. So can you guys help me with figuring out the issue?

      I am new to electronics repair, so my queries could be naive but I am ready to learn.

      Hello,

      I have a Asus ROG Strix Scar 15 (G533QM) that had a dead motherboard (Graphics card dead) and after trying to fix the motherboard with no success, I bit the bullet on a sale for a new motherboard. I ordered a motherboard for the 15 inch model which is the one that I have, and when the motherboard arrived it wasn't for a little while that I saw it was from the 17 inch model.

      My question is, can I update the Bios on this G733 motherboard to a G533 Bios.

      The reason for wanting to do this is that the keyboard isn't working as it should, and I think this...

      Charging IC: BQ24780 which I have repalced.

      Issue Description:
      I'm experiencing an issue with the charging system on this laptop. The BQ24780 charging IC is not working as expected. The main problems are:
      1. ACDET is missing (0V):, Reading 0V on the ACDET pin.
      2. ACOK is not present (0V): Is missing as well.
      3. No SMBus signals (SDA and SCL are missing): The SDA and SCL signals for SMBus communication are not present. There is no clock (SCL) or data (SDA) activity on these lines.
