Hi.
I got bored, so I opened up this battery backed usb charger that worked once and died.
Here is what I have figured out.
1. Lipo batteries are good and fully charged. 4.2v on the meter.
2. Charger will charge the batteries up.
3. Battery charge lights function and show full charge.
4. Zero voltage at the two usb ports that charge other devices.
MT6082A - step up converter

With a device plugged in and batteries attached, the enable pin (2) is grounded.
When I applied 4v by bridging pins 1 (vcc) and 2 (enable) I was able to get 5v out of pin 5.
4056ES - charge controller probably a knock-off of this:

8205A mosfet
DW01A - battery protection IC

with power applied, 4.2v on pins 1 and 3 (discharge and charge mosfet control)
mystery chip - no markings, not scraped
a. drives charge indicator leds
b. has wire to shutdown pin (7) of 4056ES
c. has wire to enable pin (2) of MT6082a
So, does anyone know what the mystery chip is? I think it's not fried since it still drives the LEDs accurately, but it could be I suppose.
Is there anything else I should be looking at to check?
Thanks!
Here come the pictures...
