    Can someone please help me identify this resistor?

    This is out of a Pridiom mini split unit. It is the power board. This component is completely charred however I was able to get a photo from a good board.
    I know it is .015 ohms and 1% tolerance but that’s about it.

            This powerful current resistor does not just burn out, check the three-phase power module for powering the compressor, there should be no short circuit or low resistance on these terminals.

                Thank you Lotas, I did check as you mentioned. I did not find any short circuit or low resistance across those terminals. However there are a bunch of bloated caps. I will be replacing them.


                Edit: sorry, I take that back. There is a short between the “P” and “N” see last photo terminals. Any ideas?

                  I cannot find any other shorts on the top side of the board. There is a large chip on the bottom side however. I have no idea what it is or how to test it. See photo.

                    Check between the three common terminals (-) and (+) bypassing the resistor, if there is a short, replace the module or look for a donor (the board itself), since the module can take the control processor with it...

                      Ok I checked between (+ P) and the 3 common terminals and there was no short or low resistance between them. I also did the same between the (-N) and there also was no short or low resistance.

                      the only short seems to be between the +P and the -N.
                      is this normal?

                      hold on. I think I did it wrong. There is a short from P to one side of the resistor pad and also a short between the N and the same resistor pad

                        Also I noticed on the processor one of the legs must have gotten really hot. There is some solder that looks to have melted out of the through hole and onto the leg. See photos

                            Measure here again, this leg is +300v and the resistor that burned out passes through it -300v and this power supplies this IGBT module.

                              I would love to unsolder the metal film cap however the pins are directly underneath the processor chip. I would have to remove that first and it looks like it would be a nightmare

                                Ok measured between the pins you specified on the IGBT module and there is no short. I am reading exactly 135ohms between the one leg and to each of the 3 others

                                  This is not a processor, but a power IGBT module, and this processor, which controls this module, when this module breaks down, it sometimes kills this processor, then that’s it, only the replacement of the entire board.

                                        I think I’m understanding now. So likely the IGBT module shorted, causing the current sense resistor to burn. Also this IGBT shorting also may have possibly caused the processor to go out.

                                          I am trying to repair an ancient Dell 2209WA Monitor which suddenly shut off with a pop sound. On investigation found that one of the fusible resistors had blown. Further investigation identified multiple components as faulty because of which the fusible resistor blew.                                           Need help to replace burned resistor in 350w atx psu

                                          Hi to all forum members,

                                          Got this faulty 350 watt atx psu dirt cheap from a local online seller as i am keen to use it as a learning tool to repair faulty power supply.
                                          The faulty part is quite obvious from the burn area near the 16pin KA7500 BD pwm. The fuse is still intact with good continuity.

                                          Upon power on ac, there is 5vdc standby power on cathode of diode D14 and about 10vdc on cathode of diode D13.(This should be the aux power to generate the 12v and 5v rail.)
                                          Initially i replace the two burned resistors near my marked red arrow to 200 ohm resistor...

                                          I am curious if a 0402 resistor could go from 43 ohm to 0. In electronics class and my experience a resistor can degrade and gain resistance all the way up to not being able to conduct at all. I have never heard of a resistor decreasing in resistance and becoming 0 ohm or a dead short… that's not the direction they fail… or so I thought.

                                          I was attempting to remove a wson8 chip on an iMac motherboard and it required a lot of heat, on one side of the chip were 3 0402 resistors that were very close. I popped the chip out unintentionally out of the tweezers and sent those resistors...

                                          What resistor ohm will work better to repair this waterpik?

                                          The resistor on this waterpik blew. I changed it with the a similar spec 47ohm 2 watt yageo resistor but it still keeps blowing the resistor. Checking with the multimeter the motor, capacitor, diodes, and thermal fuse all checked normal. Will a higher ohm resistor work better? What ohm resistor will work better to repair this waterpik?
