Does occasionally connecting the input and output do any harm to the voltage regulator?

Thank you, I am not worry about that... I seek for elegant solution to modify ch341a to program 5V ic like 93xx, 95xx, so I just put jumpers over 3.3v and 5v headers pin...Comment

So, I am inventing hot watter...
I see some video where is doing ugly modification to bring 5v to ziff... BTW, for 3.3v mod, I would rather use thin wire and insert piece or two of kapton tape between leg and pcb then lifting it so high... if anytime ahead the leg has pushed down again, it would break...

i slipped capton under it and linked it with kynar wire
then put a dab of rtv silicon on the pin

Hello esteemed members. I appreciate that my question will strike some as being somewhat childishly simple, but it genuine perplexes me! I have repaired several laptops before by removing a faulty capacitor that was short-circuiting the motherboard, whereupon the laptop would then work. For me, it begs the question that, if the current can bypass where the capcitor was when it has been removed, why didn't it just bypass it when it was present and faulty,? I can't get my head round the premise that if the other side of the capacitor is connected to ground, then why doesn't the current simply bypass... -
Hi,
I have a Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15IAU7 that suffered water damage. It doesn't turn on (white power light flashes when on button pressed), and the amber light flashes when plugged in.
Symptoms:- Short detected – sparks appear when touching the charging port connection with board with a metal (even a multimeter probe).
- Visible damage – after cleaning corrosion, I found 4 possibly burnt memory chips near PC3165, labeled UD5, UD6, UD7, and UD8.
What are my next steps to diagnose and possibly repair it without replacing the entire board? Any guidance would be greatly... -

I need a little expert advice on a issue I have and seeing as this forum is full of clever people I thought ask here as you never know.
I recently repaired a logic board 820-01700 which belongs to a 16" 2019 Macbook Pro, however I seem to be missing a component near the T2 Rom chip and is U4730.
The schematics say this chip is (M34128-FCS6_P/T) and it also says there is a bypass for it wondered if anyone come across either the IC or the bypass method.
I suppose it's worth noting googling the part package brings up various...
