Y4 diode identification

    Y4 diode identification

    Please help me identify this zener diode.
    I find it hard to see the datasheet. The diode was found on 14TB 3.5" WD HDD

    I'm looking into having it replaced.

    It's a 12V unidirectional TVS diode.

        I haven't been able to find a datasheet. I just know from experience that HDDs have two TVS diodes (5V and 12V) at the power inputs.These can usually be replaced with SMAJ12A/SMAJ5A, SMBJ12A/SMBJ5A or SMCJ12A/SMCJ5A, depending on dimensions.Also be aware that there is often a 4A smt fuse (marked "S") in series with each diode.

          S-manuals.com seem to lead me astray.

          TVS make more sense than what S-manuals is giving me, especially considering how it was arranged in the circuit.

          How wish there's a reliable website where one can identify these parts easily

              I saw something related too. All pointed to a zener diodes. Different diodes with different electricl characteristics.

                It can't be a zener. A zener is far too slow, for a start.
