How to know the specs of each LED from a flat panel

    Hi,

I have taken apart a dead LED flat panel (burnt electronics), and picked up the two backlight LED strips. They are made of 40 white CMS LEDs in series (size is about 5mm x 3mm), that are VERY bright, powered by a 38V power supply.

I was thinking about reusing them for various projects, but how do I know the voltage they require to be powered ? Can I just divide the voltage with the number of LEDs of each strip ?

    Thanks

    Thanks

Re: How to know the specs of each LED from a flat panel

Most white LEDs will operate around 3.5V to 4.5V per LED. Most will glow, but not very brightly, at around 2.7V to 3V. Most likely, the set up is around 4 strips parallel of 10 LEDs (3.8V/LED) with each parallel strip being current balanced by a controller IC, to ensure even brightness.

Current could be measured easily, by inserting an ammeter in series with one of the return wires.

LG 49UJ6500 LCD panel lighter band that goes away
      by howardc64
49UJ6500 LCD panel has a lighter band on top when first powered on. Goes away (or gets much fainter) after TV on for a few min. After powered off for awhile and power back on, same band appears. If powered on immediately after powering off, no or much fainter band. Running the latest firmware.

Disassembled the TV and lifted the LCD panel during testing. Band is on the LCD panel (can see the band on the panel as I lift it slightly) Backlight is perfectly even at the top edge. Double checked LCD panel alignment in the frame and is perfect but since band moved with the panel, its on...

SAMSUNG UN50TU8000F rebooting, backlight ok. No 12v to panel boards.
      by triplefour
TV flashes backlight then reboots over and over. no image. Client said it used to have image for a bit before rebooting. Got worse over time.

      tcon is built into mainboard.
Only one cable goes to panel boards.
there is a cable from one panel board to the other that links them.
cost cutting measure that results in us having harder time to diagnose.
removing the link to the second panel board allows TV to stay on with stable backlight but no image.
used cut off tape method to mask 1 maybe 2 pins on the side of the cable that goes to that second panel board....

Missing LCD Panel Voltages VGH, VGL, VCOM (TCL 55P6US Sound & Backlight but NO Picture)
      by maneatingmonkey
I have a TCL 55P6US with sound and backlight but no picture. This model does not have a T-CON board, and the right (rear perspective) panel board is fed from the left panel board. I have not been able to induce any change by disconnecting the secondary panel board or the tape cut-off method on the primary board.

There are a bunch of voltages missing on the panel boards. I can't find any shorted caps of the panel boards, and all of the missing voltage rails read in the kiloohms, which leads me to suspect the issue may lie on the circuit board, rather than a short in the panel.

Corsair K70 LUX RGB dying LEDs
      by Pipolups
      Hi there !

I'm having an issue for several weeks with my quite old K70 LUX RGB keyboard. I haven't used it for few months, and once I setup up again my desktop computer, I got several dead LEDs on that keyboard. I tried the Corsair troubleshooting thing (disabling options in iCUE, ...) but nothing changed so I conclude that for some reason some LEDs went in retirement...😅
Decision taken to change these LEDs as I have access to desoldering iron and binocular magnifier, I wrote a ticket to tech support, hopping to obtain the LEDs reference and... They refused to tell me 🙄...
