    Home made audio amp help

Hi folks i need some help from the electronics pros on a small audio amp for my old lcd tv that sound is too low on the speakers despite to be on the max volume, i know the issue is on the main board , the only solution is to buy a new board but i don't want to shell out 50 bucks for a board . I have seen in Utube some home made audio amps but i'm weary about those projects, i 've seen a audio buit with an STK audio amp ,. I don't have STK4142, i have STK4273, my question if this is not fake and works can i do it with STK4273 instead of STK4142? thanks https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BcTZS5Y_IxQ

what i went through dealing with my mobo with dead onboard sound!
    by ChaosLegionnaire
so i took out one of my spare gigabyte ep35-ds3r mobos from storage for use to do some cpu, ram and video card testing of stuff i bought from ebay and got for free from momaka. he bought 50 e8400 cpus for cheap from ebay some years ago and i decided to help him relieve him of some of his supply since he had waaaay too many!! what did we say about hoarding too much stuff and depriving others of them?! *cough* socialism *cough* lol!

i had to blow some dust off the board and heatsinks with the datavac as i didnt clean it up before putting it in storage. after finishing...

Dell Vostro 5490 - no sound, no audio device
    by Piaskos
Hi, i've got problem with Dell Vostro 5490.
    Board - Mantis CML 18788-1

Windows says "no audio device detected". The other functions work properly.

    What i've done:

    1. I checked motherboard

    2. I changed audio codec (ALC3204)

    3. I reflashed bios with clear ME

    4. Audio is enable in bios

    5. Both speakers are good

    6. After installing the drivers from the Dell website, the devices visible in the manager:
    - Audio for intel displays
    - Intel Smart Sound Technology...

Frying amplifier finals... audio, not rf...
    by eccerr0r
Well for RF transmitters, transmitting without an impedance matched antenna and if the transmitter doesn't have automatic limiting... kiss the final transistor goodbye and chalk one up to something you killed.

But that's not the same way with audio amps for the most part, well, at least the wavelength of audio on copper is so long that you get all of it back anyway but the transistor is fine with it...

So how are people destroying finals in their audio amplifiers then? Heh.

Are people shorting their outputs or something, overdriving output to a too big speaker?...

Onkyo TX-SR702 no audio after channel repair
    by akarta
Really strange one. Got this amp with digital noise coming from all channels. BAD cap on 12V rail and burned via on -12V rail causing -7V and +7V rails missing, audio noise and "SP CONFIG" message (thinking that MIC is plugged in then it is NOT, but before I replaced cap and fixed rails I have accidently left it ON with output transistors for rear channels hanging in air (NOT HEATSINK ). One channel blew. After further inspection found a LOT of caps out of range on DSP and Processor boards. Replaced every single one that did not pass my ESR test(almost all).Got receiver back together...

    Denon AVR-X500 No audio output
    by dicky96
Hi guys, I have this AVR-X500. It has no audio output but if I select some input (DVD) and connect an audio signal to the RCA DVD inputs, I hear a relay click and sometimes there is a slight crackling on the speakers.

I only have 2x 8ohm speakers attached to Left and Right front.

If I plug headphones in, the crackling noise stops but I get no audio on the headphones.

I checked the voltages marked on the connectors on the Preamp PCB (12V, 5V etc) and they are all present. There is also plus/minus 56V on the bridge rectifier on the main amplifier PCB...
