    Reading N-Channel Mosfet Junctions (1N65)

    Hi.
I have a Mosfet in a power adaptor circuit and I want to know what is the Gate, Drain and Source.
I have a data sheet and it shows which is the gate (#1) and I assume 2 and 3 are Drain and Source.

But when I read it with a multimeter I read that it's likely not that.
It seems to show that wire 3 is the gate and the other two are drain and source.
I want to know because I want to design tests on the mosfet to see if it is broken.

However, the gate of U1 (the pulse width modulator) is connected to wire 1 indicating it IS the gate of the mosfet.

Should I assume that I have the wrong data sheet, that not all manufacturers stick to the data sheet wiring, or something else.?

This mosfet contains a diode, so it seems to you that the pinout is not correct.

I want to know because I want to design tests on the mosfet to see if it is broken.
Desolder mosfet from the circuit, clean its legs and test it with "component tester" near by. It is easyest way to test.
Incircuit you can only check that mosfet isnt shorted... other readings may not be relevant due to rest of connected circuit.
