    Resistor Size Identification

    Hi Everyone,

    Newbie here again.

I have a resistor that has blown on a Sonos Connect Amp (see attached). Could someone explain to me how I determine the wattage of the resistor?

Thank you all again for your patience and help.

    Peter

    Re: Resistor Size Identification

Power resistors have become kind of a marketing game - for the same size, nowadays you see some pretty grandiose claims. Because materials have higher temperature ratings, they can claim more power dissipation- but they'd run super hot.

In the 15x5mm league you'll find both 2W and 3W parts.
    I would say it's a 3W MOX like TE RR03, ERG3, Stackpole RSMF3 etc.
Look out for fusible and pulse-rated parts if that is what your circuit needs.

4-4.5mm dia. is 2W is Yageo RSF-200 or Stackpole ASRM2, RSF2. Others are shorter.
