    Lifted trace, how to glue back down?

    Hi all,

    I have a PCB and one of the tracks lifted. I tried using superglue but no good, didn't stick.

    What have you had success with at gluing down traces/tracks ?

    clean it first ..i have used superglue no problem

      I usually replace the trace/pad with a small piece of copper tape that is a little larger than the original trace/pad, then apply conformal coating around the edge of it to bond it to the board.

      I've had bad luck with Superglue, I can get it to stick but when I try and solder to whatever I glued down it usually comes back off again. But that's probably me just doing it wrong

        Superglue is broken by heat, not sure why that is being suggested.
        Get rid of the ripped trace and replace it with copper wire.

        SluggerB conformal coating is a coating not an adhesive.

          It is Heatproof epoxy i think. I was told to mix ceramic dust and normal epoxy together and form it yourself but i didnt think this would work

            On one layer pcb board usually is used very weak glue to hold traces... must be careful in future.
            In this case, there is no point to use glue to hold track, just place track on board, put back legs of element to solder again, and wrap legs over track with thin copper wire few times. All that soak with solder tin to confirm it to one solid piece with track.

            Superglue is cyanacril, and dissolve to hazard vapour when heating, protect lunge and eye when working with it.

              I use UV cure resin for just about anything that needs to be glued to a PCB.

                superglue/cyanocrylate is something that should never be used in electronics or anything that has a translucent area/window.
                it will give off vapor that ruins windows in things.

                wd40 is another thing that should be kept in a seperate building from electronics too.

                  Thanks everyone for the feedback.

                  I bumped the pad and it broke off (see attached image) , so I'll have to try a method of replacing the pad as others suggested.

                  Hole-to-hole is 4mm, I'm not sure how to properly secure the battery contact. If I use a pad that isn't secured to the board, the contact is going to be loose and possibly pull at the new joint?

                    Forget trying to replace the pad, use copper wire instead.

                      I second this second this suggestion for repairing this board soldering joints to each other or if desoldering braid would also work as well and maybe even easier to use because it would lay flat if you used a couple of pieces next to each other for surface area contact

                      You really need to clean those metal pieces that contact the batttery as well

                        I understand soldering the legs together and to the track, but the contact itself would be wobbly. I could pickup some of that UV cure green PCB stuff, or even hot blue & glue down the contact itself from both sides & using a piece of wire, though I'm not sure how secure the contact would be.

                        So, besides trying some hi-heat resistant epoxy, there's no way of securing a new pad / copper tape to the board itself (that's soldering iron heat resistant)?

                        You really need to clean those metal pieces that contact the batttery as well
                        Already done. It's not perfect but heaps better than the images above.

                          Install the connector through the pc board holes then bent the tabs inward to secure it to the pc board, then just solder the tabs together for more support, then solder a wire from the connector to the broken trace

                            Thanks guys. I ended up just sticking the contact in and putting a blog of solder onto each leg & bridging to the resistor. The contacts I cleaned up, pretty beaten up but working.

                            One thing I noticed, the sticker on the bottom says DC output 1.4v but when I plug in the charger and probe the positive and negative contacts, the left contacts read 1.5v +/- and the right contact 2.3v +/- with voltages fluctuating a bit. I don't know much about chargers, I know they charge batteries at a slightly higher voltage than the batteries output, but does it sound like there's an issue there or is it just me?

                              the numbers mean nothing, it's a piece of junk that regulates the current and voltage with a resistor!
                              it relies on the presence of a discharged battery for those figures.

                                I am comparing them to a brand new one that I installed

                                The display came back on and the programming was not lost which I was surprised by I would have thought that when the display went blank that so did the memory as well

                                Wanted to share this as I couldn't find anything on the internet about this problem, so pulled one apart and found the problem myself. Years ago I bought approx 20 or so Crest Smart Home Single Power Adapter smart switches - small 240v Tuya-compatible (rebranded) smart switch devices with power monitoring, which Big W had on sale for half price. Paid $7.50 each for these, and they've been incredibly useful for turning things on and off remotely... and monitoring how much power each device uses.

                                However, after about 12 months, I had a number of these stop working...

                                Is it possible bridging tiny broken trace

                                When I assembled dreamcast I mistakenly fastened long bolt and It resulted in
                                cutting tiny trace.
                                This tiny trace(Total width of white coating is 5.5mm) is between R337,R343 and IC101 and it is covered with white coating in the below screenshot.


                                Firstly I tried to bridging tiny broken trace with my own eyes...But it is totally impossible..So a week ago, I ordered G1200 Digital Microscope and I magnified this tiny broken trace with it.

                                But It seems that It is really very tiny trace So I plan to order 0.1mm coper wire from aliexpress in order to bridging...
