Forum Rules *ALL NEW MEMBERS, PLEASE READ!! UPDATED!!*

First and foremost, Welcome to the Badcaps Capacitor Search Engine & Forums!

New members that have activated their accounts have limited access to certain features of the site until established. Members with zero posts have no access to the private messaging system. Also, members with zero posts may not edit certain profile attributes, such as signatures. New members also may not create new threads. However, new members with zero posts have full access to all technical information contained on this forum, and that also includes attachments (images and files that other members have uploaded), and new members that have activated their accounts are free to post replies to existing threads. If you wish to create a new thread, the fix is simple! All you need is ONE post to be able to have full unrestricted access, and that can be simply posting an introduction of yourself or say hello in THIS THREAD. This may seem a little strange, but it helps keep spam and abuse curved. Please note, that it may take up to one hour from your first post for the limits to be removed. If you make a post and don't immediately see the restrictions gone, be patient. The promotion system updates every hour.

Please complete your profile after making your first post, with your name, locale, and other info. It's nice to know members on a first name basis, and know where they're from. Makes for a much friendlier environment!

Posting rules for this forum will be STRICTLY enforced by myself as the owner/administrator, and my moderator crew.

Badcaps.net IS A BUSINESS!!! If you are a servicer, service center, or vendor of any kind in the computer/capacitor industry, you are NOT permitted to advertise, link, promote, or plug your business on this forum in ANY way! NO EXCEPTIONS!! This includes asking for "donations" in exchange for BIOS passwords or tech advice for anything! If I see you doing that, your post will be edited or deleted, and you warned. If it happens again, you will be banned. The only exceptions are the references to the companies quoted in the FAQ which the administration have added for the convenience of those around the world who have difficulty to source caps for their repair.

This also includes using this forum's private message system to solicit business. Members, if you receive a PM from anyone offering repair services or components, please alert me immediately! Myself or any of my moderators, will never private message a user soliciting business, for Badcaps.net, or any other servicer/vendor. If you PM me about repairing your device, I will reply and take care of you, however, I will not message you first.

Posting rules:

This forum was created to be a technical support forum primarily for the do-it-yourselfers who choose to repair their own boards. Any and all technical questions are welcome!

1) Please use the SEARCH feature!! Your question may have been answered in another thread! Please search first and see if it has!

2) When posting a technical question, be as detailed as possible in your thread. The more information we have about your specific problem, the better we can answer your question.

3) Please use COMPLETE sentences, punctuation, and grammar! Nobody is perfect, hence, a spelling error on occasion is no biggie. However, posts/threads that are unreadable will be deleted. This includes any and all forms of 'ebonics', leet, chatroom jargon, and 'text message' shorthand and slang. This forum is not a chatroom/text message, please use full words and complete sentences.

4) Keep discussion on topic!! DO NOT HIJACK THREADS! It's easy to do (I've done it myself a few times...) Lets try to keep it down to a minimal!! If you have something really off topic, that's what the lounge is for!

5) Keep things civil! There will be no tolerance for flaming, bashing, hateful remarks, racial remarks, adult material of ANY kind, and so on.

6) THE LOUNGE RULES! The lounge is a place for off topic chit-chat! If you post something that might be considered questionable or something you don't want kids to see, or something you can't view at work/school, etc, please label that thread *NWS* or NOT WORK SAFE in the thread title as a warning. The Lounge is NOT moderated, anything is welcome... Feel free to post rants, jokes, cars, hot women (remember the NWS warning in the title), or just about anything within reason. It's an open forum! Please refrain from participating in political topics if you have thin skin, they can get heated sometimes!! Remember that we have members here from all over the world, with many different views and cultures. Political debates can turn really ugly, and really fast, and if they degrade to personal attacks and useless banter/bashing, moderator action will ensue. I want this forum to be a safe haven for technical discussions from all walks of life, so lets keep off topic discussions civil and friendly.

7) Spamming and spammers will NOT be tolerated or accepted in any way, shape, or form! Spam bots are instantly and permanently banned, and their threads deleted! The mod crew is really quick to zap spammers, we typically pop them before they even get to post. This also includes regular members as well. be courteous and not post spam. This includes links to off-site information that's not relevant to the thread at hand. Do not plug other websites, forums, or businesses in your signatures. You may do so in a thread if the off-site link you're posting is relevant to the topic, but otherwise, don't do it. If you see a thread which clearly a spam bot posting that we have not removed yet, DO NOT click any links in it!! Simply click the 'report bad post' button, and it'll be taken care of, usually within minutes.

8) Account removals & closures: Since no personal information is given in the creation of your Badcaps.net Forum account, requests to remove and/or delete accounts will be declined. Any requests for removal of threads & posts you created will also be declined. The reason is the missing posts can/will leave threads incomplete and fragmented. For the threads to be of help to others later on, information can't and won't be missing. However, if you inadvertently posted personal identifiable information in a post (such as an email address, real name, or phone number), please contact a staff member. In those cases, the post may be edited or removed, at the staff members discretion.

That's about it for the rules, the setup here is pretty loose. However, if you're caught violating any of the rules above, here's what will happen:

First offense: Warning by me or a moderator
Second offense: Banning for 1 day
Third offense: Banning for 3 days
Fourth offense: Banned permanently.

If you do something really dumb, or are just a troll, I will skip the warning and the temporary banning, and ban you permanently!

The rules are pretty cut and dry... However, if you have any questions about this policy, feel free to contact me.

acording to the ORDER CODE it could also be that the pc-410 is preconfigured for a certain communication configuration so check its complete part number
ok i take note on that..thanks for the reply

The CH341 based is an USB to Serial converter, not an USB to RS232 converter!
[@pronester see here how Serial and RS232 are different, already mentioned by @R_J]
      Therefore PC410 won't acknowledge connection.

Either use the motherboard COM port or a truly USB to RS232 converter.
ok thanks on the suggestion man, i will get this converter to test it with the machine and pc

Hi. Are you still working on this? Cool projects

          Perhaps we can help.

Hi sir maybe you can help me out. https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=97677. It's easy to remove the controller you just press a tab on the right side and pull the unit out. Just make sure you don't plug it in the wrong direction like I did.

For those who have been having difficulties to get their Achi ir pro sc to connect with a laptop or pc via the psoft software. It may work for you too but you can only try to know if it will work. Please note I am not a pro and there is no logical process in this. I have seen others reported here no connect and myself after trying for days to connect this to my laptops via the laptops usb 2 or usb 3 ports on my two laptops, it refused to connect. When it failed to connect, I bought several usb to rs232 serial converters and they all failed although they were all recognised as com port.* I bought the Digitus USB 2.0 to serial convertor FTDI chipset, Ugreen usb* to rs232 serial cable with PL2303 chipset, Dtech 3 pin to usb to TTL serial and finally usb to rs232 XTVTXb pl2303HX to TTL. None of them worked when plugged in directly in the laptops usb ports of my Samsung galaxy book2 pro 360 win 11 and in my good old reliable Sony sve1713z1eb win 10. However, connecting to my very old pc in win 7 directly in rs232 port, it connected and worked but glitchy in win 7 and did not work on another PC with win xp. Even in the pc with win 7 it did not connect directly via the pc usb port through the cable usb to rs232 serial adapter.

*After giving up on the the 2 laptops, and after many days have passed I was reaching for something on a shelf an old usbV1 hub fell in front of me and I picked it up and I said let me try to connect that to my laptop and to the achi pro* sc V1 and to my astonishment it worked on both latops.** I was very happy and started to ponder why is it working via the usb hubs but not directly via the latops usb ports and in my view very strange. I thought may be it is to do with drivers of the PC410 or win drivers. I cannot explain and I do not know the answer. I eventually found out that it does work via usbv2 hub too.

The way I connect via the laptops, I ensure port settings in device manager match the port settings in psoft menu then first tab, configure com port. I connect cables to Achi pro first and then connect cable to laptop using an ordinary usb to rs232* serial converter to the USB v1 hub, from USB hun to pc, start laptop wait for it to boot to windows, I then switch on achi pro then open psoft and voila it works. When it connects the com port in psoft flashes green intermittently and on pc410, com flashes red intermittently. It can be temperamental too and If it does not work repeat the process switch off Achi and close psoft and start again and try in another port. It does work 99% of the time in my case.

I would also check inside the Achi which wire is ground, rx and tx to Din rs232 port (mine) or usb port may be in Achi v2, v3 and v4. Mine was different to the schematics which I found on a utoob video. There is no logic in this, I am merely sharing my experience.

I think I can help elucidate the issue. The issue is you have fake proliant and FTDI chips. Prolific and FTDI decided because there are so many fakes out there, that they would bar the fake chips functioning with their drivers. The problem is that, as a buyer, there's really no easy way to authenticate that the chips are real. So I just don't buy anything labeled FTDI or Prolific. I have bought an arduino, from a US seller, that was labelled, 100% real, not fake, guess what, it was a fake.

These cables will work under linux just fine as FTDI and Prolific did not write those linux drivers and did not black list the fakes. They may also work on older windows systems that did not get newer drivers that black list the fakes. Older windows systems also may not support the newer chips like XP and pl2303HX IIRC.

The solution is to just buy ch340 adapters. They are cheap chinese chips, and no one is faking them.

Sucks for FTDI and Prolific, they were losing revenue from the fakes, but I just will not buy any of their products because there's a (high) risk of getting a blacklisted fake. Arduinos pretty much all moved away from using the fake chips in favor of the ch340 chips, but the fake chips are still very much present in usb to TTL adapters.

I did not mention in my first post that I had tried so many times to connect with the ch340 converters and it did not work with it. For it to work with my current method, I wired it as per the diagram in the picture attached of the “female rs232 port”. That is the only way I got it to work and any other way it does not work which is weird. Could it be wired as Rs485?
The original schematic of the achi ir pro sc V1, the pin top to the right is ground, the left top pin is TX and the bottom pin is RX.
In my achi pro the Right top pin is RX and the left top pin is ground and the bottom pin is TX. I made the 3-pin din cable with GX12 plug to female rs232 plug as I could not find any to buy. I acquired the second hand BGA working station about 3 months ago and all going well.
I have attached pictures if that can be of any help to others. I do not really need to connect to pc for it to work but can be useful when learning to get better. I can save profiles and tweak them to suit certain board. Easy to send and upload profiles.
Mine is working and so the quest for me stops here and hope someone can find a better way and solution to make the psoft software work easily with laptop or pc.

Does your ch340 get recognized by the OS? Going from memory here, IIRC, you have to download a driver for the ch340, there aren't "certified" drivers for them. Has been so long since I have been using this chips for a very long time, I don't quite remember what I had to do to get them owrking.

Glad you got it working though!

Mine got recognised by the OS win 10 and win 11. Picture attached is Win 11. I had tried it on Win 10 too. It is a cheap one I bought from Alixpress many months ago. I never downloaded a driver as it was auto recognised. May be I should have downloaded the driver? I will google it.
