try these: test the "fresh" build first.

"testing-bg-kit2.zip"

Fresh: contrast default 37, display upside down & inverted.

Flip: Contrast default 45, display correct!
Rotary encoder turns in the wrong direction.
Best contrast is of course user opinion, 50 shows a little bit of the background, at 45 the background is only the backlight.
I'd say 50 is probably good when you have some sun or bright lights anyway.

per hannson thats the one ive tried on mine and works fine with the display etc just rotary encoder backwards

per hannson is rite its the flip that works sorry stj transfered files onto a usb stick to main pc for programming so my fault.

This one is correct.
Contrast is good.
Encoder turns in the correct direction.
And display is not fucked up at all from what I can tell

stj with your last file encoder goes the right way now i cant see any other diffrences although still dosnt show encoder in the menu but works fine.

encoder test is disabled to save space.

i'm going to go start adding other stuff now.

yes this one works fine for me too i was swopping files from laptop via usb to desktop pc so i got files mixed up but testing-tuning2.zip seems fine too me.

fuck it, i hardly changed anything display-related!

o.k. try this - if it works then your eeprom may be faulty - i'm moving the fonts into the main flash.

"testing-tuning4.zip" kinda worked, the fonts where not correct.
And the meter rebooted all the time, never offering to do the calibration.
And when metering a capacitor it showed 0.00 for ESR which was incorrect.
But the display was oriented properly at least.

i changed the fonts to a smaller set to fit more info on the display.

the reboot i think i can fix - i tried to set the shutdown timer after vince noticed it stayed on.
i'v had trouble with that bit of code before.

try this.
i killed the timer and removed the long cal message.
(to save space)

Yea "testing-tuning5.zip" works better, ESR still shows as 0.00 though which is incorrect for this cap.
I put back "testing-tuning2.zip" now as I like that one better, much nicer fonts
