Radioshack RMS auto ranging multimeter question

I just picked up this multimeter from our local Radioshack store that is closing, came out to about $41 after being marked down 40%. It was admittedly an impulse buy, as there was only one left, and I needed something that could measure capacitance.

I think I've answered my one question, which was: will this thing be any good for measuring capacitance of small caps (LCD monitor repair) in the 100uF - 2200uF range? I don't exactly know the scale, is uF the smallest, and nF larger? This is what the manual says:

    CAPACITANCE
    4nF ........................................ ± 4.0% of Reading,
    ± 40 in Last Digits
    40nF ...................................... ± 4.0% of Reading,
    ± 10 in Last Digits
    400nF – 40uF – 400uF .......... ± 3.0% of Reading,
    ± 4 in Last Digit

The only other multimeter I have is a cheapo $15 one, so hopefully this wasn't a complete waste of money. In any case, I guess what I'm looking for is whether I can use this to help troubleshoot some LCD's, and if not, some recommendations on what tool I should purchase to do so. Thanks for any advice in advance!!

The multimeter measures capacitance only up to 400uF. In addition, no multimeter can measure ESR (equivalent series resistance) which is more important when troubleshooting non visually bloated caps. A bloated cap is almost guaranteed to be bad. A non bloated requires desoldering and measuring with an ESR meter.

How To Test a P-channel Trench Mosfet Using A Multimeter In Diode Mode
            by dj8452000
I am new to electronics and I'm understanding most of what I'm reading but I have a mosfet on my board that I've identified as a P-channel Trench Mosfet. I haven't a clue how to test this and what I should expect to see with the multimeter probes. I am hoping someone with years more experience than myself can help me understand how to use a multimeter to read this. Please look at the drawing I have attached to this and can you try to explain to me what I should be doing with my multimeter in diode mode and what results I should expect from a good mosfet?...

Lenovo G50-80 Auto Power On when AC is detected
            by classicandy
            Hi Everyone,

I have a Lenovo G50-80 that auto powers On when AC (Charger) is connected. I have checked the BIOS settings and there is no option to turn On or Off that feature as it is in some HP EliteBooks. I did update the BIOS and still same.

I then flashed the BIOS with a different bin file I downloaded here, It worked (didn't auto power on) for some time (after testing up to 5 times) but has now started again to auto power on when AC is connected.

The CMOS battery voltage is 3v. I have also tested with two main batteries as well. I would be glad if anyone...

            Craftsman 82345 Multimeter broke!
            by trex66
My daily carry just stopped working only me. Started last week with the voltage flickering. Found one lead was broken and I ordered new ones. New leads didn't change anything, it displays “-1” on all settings but on continuity will give the tone when touching. Checked battery and found the fuse blown. Replaced fuse but same results. Cleaned the dial and led display and its parts. Board looks nice and clean no burned or broken components. Nothing traumatic happened to this multimeter I put it aside when I found the lead broken and didn't touch it until I got the neAnyone have any ideas what's...
