    Quecoo T12-958 soldering iron tip not grounded

    Hi
    I have a Quecoo T12-958 soldering iron and have noticed the soldering iron tip is not grounded
    i dont want to use it like this
    I only found out because the chassis ground wire from the ground lug / bannana socket came off
    how can I ground the soldering iron tip

    What I thought of doing is soldering a wire from the ground leg on the soldering iron tip connector to the ground lug
    Would this be ok

    There is a earth wire from the PSU to control board but its not connected to anything.

    you can ground the tip,
    but a resistor is better to limit the current if you touch a charged capacitor or forget to unplug what your soldering !!

    maybe 220k or 470k.
    enough to disipate static but if you touched mains it will only allow a few mA to pass

      but what would be the best way to do it

      Also i see that the barrel jack is not connected to the ground lug
      Can i solder the ground from the barrel jack to the ground lug

        the ground pin on the power inlet should really be connectedto the ground jack through a resistor to protect the user from cable/building-wiring faults.
        the iron itself as i said, direct or through a resistor depending on how you use the iron.

        if your making stuff or repairing low voltage low current devices then ground it if you want,
        if your repairing things like psu's then i recommend a resistor to limit the chances of sparks or damage.

          take out the psu board with the back panel attached, see where the inlet earth pin goes.
