Weller WSP80 on HQ rework machine

Is it possible to use Weller WSP80 soldering pencil on this SMD rework soldering station?

The connector are the same and it is 24V.

Only difference is that machine is 50W and iron is 80W

Sorry if this is stupid question

Actually this is a very interesting question.

What is expected to happen in this case, is the machine to damage their electronics because they are not capable to deliver the proper amount of energy for the specific electrical load.

Another prediction is that possibly the machine is designed with an electrical tolerance of 25% over the 50W that is 62,5W.
but even so, still is not enough to feed this 80W load.

What will actually happen is it will work fine but the life expectancy of the components inside the unit will be reduced. Perhaps the fuse will blow after some usage, maybe a few hours. Or the triac/MOSFET will fail causing the heating element to stick on permanently.

The 25% over-rating you mention is not part of any industry standard I have ever heard of. If I design a product with a 50W power supply, it's going to be rated to operate at 50W. That means that it will output 50W at 70°C ambient (or whatever might be the maximum rated temperature) and minimum AC line voltage. NOW, it could be that when I'm designing it I decide to size the components for 55W... but I could just as well sized them for 51W. And, it'll probably turn out, that under normal usage (room temperature) it will do more output than it's rated with no lifespan issues. But, it's not -rated- to do so, and thus cannot be guaranteed to survive.

In every power supply the crucial part is the transformer and if the load is 50W and the transformer is at 50W, in about an hour it would get hot as volcano.
Therefore most reliable devices are designed by adding a tolerance +25% so the transformer to run cooler.

Either way this is a costly Weller and there is no room for acrobatics and experiments.

There is no industry standard of 25% additional margin. As stated previously, the device is rated to operate correctly and reliably at 50W loading. Applying additional load may reduce the reliability.

What you stated previously was generic crap talk.

Old Weller 100/140 Watt Soldering Gun
              by clearchris
Someone gave me two of these 100/140w weller soldering guns. Yes, I know it runs current right through the tip, but might be nice to really get some heat into some big wires that need to be soldered.

So, worth a place on the bench, or chuck it?

Janome DC3050 Sewing Machine Pedal Resistance
              by CG2
OK, this is a long shot. I got this sewing machine cheap because it's end of line, ex-display, and had no pedal. The genuine pedal costs £60, while Ebay knock-offs go for around £15. So I went for the knock-off, it doesn't work, and I'm not sure whether it's the pedal or the sewing machine that has the problem.

Now this is an electronic machine, unlike the old fashioned sort where the pedal was a big resistor in series with the power to the motor. Here, the pedal is just (I think) a variable resistor fed with a 5 volt supply, and limited to a current of 5 milliamps. Assuming that...

Samsug washing machine. Power supply DC41-00189a board issue
              by Soulzink
              Hi everyone,

I am trying to fix a samsung washinmachine power supply main board.
I already replaced it with another one to fix the machine but i want to try understand the issue with the old board.
Therefore i hope to be able to get some help to explain what to check in order to troubleshoot.
The power supply board reference is the following: DC41-00189a

              HELP! A1398 Dead,
              by Fam787
I bought a second hand Mid 2014 A1398 MacBook Pro when I lived in Australia. I'd bought it as a back-up machine because I had a Mid 2014 MacBook Pro, and realising it might one day fail, I wanted a backup machine because I don't like change.

Two weeks after buying MBP2, the seller called me to check if everything was OK with the unit, which I thought was odd. At that stage I might have turned it on a couple of times, but I'd not used it when he'd called. Over the last few years I used the machine seldomly because my original mac has been pretty OK. Every 3-6 months I'd charge it...
