    Diagnostic report cards (pci, usb)

    Anybody had any experiences with these, or found anything better?

    they supposidly post beeps and sounds relevent to whats happening when your computer does not start.

    any ideas?

    They display the exact post code (PORT 80 code IIRC) on the segmented LED, plenty of newer desktop mainboards have that function built into the mainboard itself. I've never used one for a laptop...first time I've seen that actually, but not surprised.

      so it wont tell me anything about the power functions of the board? i have seen most of it to do with the bios etc, but will it go outside of that a lil

        I've bought from that seller... Very good seller and he is also even supported by the "real" company

        Because the one I bought only worked for ISA boards, not PCI (it has both connectors)

        So I sent a mail to Elstonsystems and they sent me no less than 3 new (different) post cards! Free of chrage of course...

        Recommended seller and also hardware... Some of the cards does have a set of LED's that will lit up if there is voltage on the rails...

          hmmmm so does that mean it will tell me if there is something wrong with the power line on the board?

          i've noticed there are some out there that offer a lot more indepth soloutions such as a GUI for all sorts of diagnostic test but they are purely $1200+

            No, the LED will simply lit up if there is any power at all, to test it properly probe it with a digital mutimeter...
