    HP LA2306x having shorted diode. Compatible replacement for Diode MBR5200.

    Hi guys.

    Need your advice. I am repairing a HP LA2306x having a shorted diode. Diode marked MBR5200.

    May i know what is a suitable replacement that can be found at either Element14 or RS components?

      Perhaps others can help I have looked and can find no 2 legged (single) schottky diodes
      perhaps you can get away with using one half of a dual?? - perhaps someone will know?

          Possibly ISL9R1560P2 or ISL9R1560PF2 (isolated) might fit, but I don't know about their availability at stores mentioned. However forward voltage VF value is bigger, which might be an issue.

                  I ended up buying the same model. Replaced it and it fired up nicely.

                      Sorry to bring up a old post but i was wondering what the problem was as i have just been given one to play with. The picture is fine on the left hand quarter and the rest of the screen has vertical lines down it, there is no visible damage and i tried the usual pressing round the edge of the screen etc...

                          OP had a bad rectifier diode. I presume it was for the power supply.

                          Try cleaning up the LVDS cable between the logic board and the t-con board. If not, it could be the LCD going bad.

                              Hello guys,
                              I have seen a few videos on youtube about repiring HP 15 pavilion laptops that has TVS (Transient Voltage Suppressor) diode shorted to the ground.
                              Please have a look at the attached picture.
                              The diode is P4SMAJ20A and according to the datasheet its breakdown voltage (at 1 mA is 22.2V or 24.6V at10 mA).
                              THis means that if voltage goes higher that 23V this diode will start conducting and short to ground thus protecting rest of the circuits from overvoltage.

                              What I don't understand if is this diode reversible, for example if voltage goes below 20...

                              Hi there all.

                              Troubleshooting an SMPS and I’ve found a SMD diode shorted in both directions. The trouble is it has no identification on it. So what do I replace it with and how do I tell where the anode and cathode is and how to mount the replacement?

                              It is diode D1 on the image.

                              Hi every one. I just want to share the successful repair of my shorted Panasonic TNPA4782AB SC board.

                              I don't usually do it but so many parts were shorted that I decided to buy the ShopJimmy repair kit instead of sourcing each components individually. Here is the list of components the kit contained, with a remark indicating if I needed that part or not :

                              Hi to all,
                              the owner of this machine gave it to me after having opened it to take off the dust from the inside, telling me that after that it didn't start anymore.
                              I found that one of the DrMOS (AOZ5016QI) on the CPUCORE was shorted between VIN and VSWH, and that one of the two n-mos connected to the power jack was shorted aswell.
                              I unsoldered the two shorted components and verified that there were no other short circuits, then decided to power the mainboard, firstly with the lab power supply, then with its original HP 200w charger, but the behaviour is the same, the board starts...

                              Hi,

                              today I got Razer Blade 14, Ryzen 9 6900HX and RTX 3070Ti.

                              Laptop was completely dead. I found shorted CPU VRM mosfet, shorted 19V mosfet and blown battery fuse.

                              I replaced it all, but still on CPU coil where mosfet was shorted I got very low resistance, near 0 ohms. On other CPU coils I got around 3 ohms.

                              Laptop now raises voltage on whole board, but still nothing comes on the screen. CPU gets 0.7V on all coils except the shorted one. CPU gets only slightly hot, below 40 C.

                              I removed coil and injected 0.7V, it draw around...
