Cool TV Repair Reference Library

This post is to create a reference library of useful, general purpose (not brand/model specific) TV service reference materials, tutorials and service guides. Topcat has agreed to sticky it if I create it, so here it is! I hope having this information in a centralized location will help everyone find the information that they may find useful.

When ordering parts for TVs, it is critical to know the full model number and version (if used) of the TV, in order to get the correct parts.

How to determine version numbers for TVs.

I'm trying to find power supply, Y & A sus board schematics for LG plasma TV's. Specifically for the 60PK250/550 series.
All their service manuals have are for the control & main board.

Sadly, because the typical TV tech only works down to board level, I find that getting the detail you are looking for always remains challenging. Many of the clever chaps on this Forum have often identified the typical components that fail and can give life again to Y-Sus and Z-Sus boards again, but most often it's a change-out/change-over situation.

Ten and more years ago, I don't remember not having full schematic and a parts list with almost any SM I bought. Now you don't seem to get either.

Yes, I agree. I only got back into the hobby of repairing TVs about a year ago and was getting up to speed with the flat screen technology. I kept thinking I was missing something. I'd download a SM and couldn't find the schematics. Then eventually the penny dropped; no one except us enthusiasts goes down below board level. I've repaired a few power supplies by diagnosis (going beyong simply changing out the electros) but otherwise I've always had to go for board changeovers for the rest.

Check the PS D/C voltages, values for the output wire connectors are stamped on board.
