    Delta DPS-125EB-1 120W PSU

    So that I bought this one for only $2.5 (used). What a price!
    The fan is dead otherwise it would cost me $3.5 (Rp. 30,000).

    This kind of PSU is still my fave for powering the p3 systems i build. The +12V amperage should be enough for powering a dvdrom and a hardisk. Add to that three fans (including the cpu hs fan). This +12V rail lacks a coil in pi filter and only have originaly rubycon yxg 2200uF 16v 12.5mm. I can add a 'wondrous power lead' that i and gonzo have been discussed in the eurocase psu thread... every optimization is worth in my view, and i dont care if it's beyond economical. after all i'm talking about a $3 dollar psu!!

    My Duron 1200MHz systems chews ~87W in total (full load) and 42W at light load (with cpuidle), so why a p3 system should exceed that? 80W of +3.3V and +5V should be okay for the mobo, cpu (667-900MHz), and addon cards (gf2/4 vga, lan, tv tunner, etc).

    +5VS is 2A and i believe this is true, not like some cheap brand that actually can only supply 1.5A.

    i dont want to skimp on picture sizes, but i limit it to 1024x768 resolution.

    the grill:

    in anyway, you can't mount it in an ordinary case. but that's not a problem for me, i almost always place the psu outside the case. fortunately it's me that when people see this oddity they will always agree of my explanation. i explain to them that it is better for their hardware to run much cooler and last longer with that style. it's not that i'm lying, i'm not (at least i believe i'm not ).

    anyway it looks not that bad. but feel free to disagree :

      Re: Delta DPS-125EB-1 120W PSU

      the psu runs this minimalist folding system:

      Abit KT7
      Duron 1200MHz @ 1.75V
      SDRAM 128MB
      AGP GF2MX400
      HDD Seagate 3.4GB

      at light load (cpuidle):

      +3.3V ===> 3.29V
      +5V =====> 5.10V
      +12V ====> 11.95V

      full load:

      +3.3V ===> 3.29V
      +5V =====> 4.96V
      +12V ====> 12.21V

      the rails fortunately is very steady. of course i observe it with my dmm.

      on the label, it says:

      Code:
      DELTA ELECTRONICS, INC.

      Model: DPS-125EB-1 A REV: 04

      INPUT:	100-127V~/4.0A,
      	200-240V~/2.0A,

      47Hz-63Hz
      OUTPUT:		 +5V ===/ 15A,
      		+3.3V ===/ 8A,
      		 +12V ===/ 4A,
      120W MAX.	 -12V ===/ 0.3A,
      		 +5VS ===/ 2A,

      +5V & +3.3V Total Output Power Can't Exceed 80W.

        Re: Delta DPS-125EB-1 120W PSU

        oh, the original delta fan is dead. i replace it with my spare thermaltake fan. and i take all the pics after i recaped and "re-fan-ed" long time ago. the fan is connected to a small module/card in the secondary side area. the caps was almost all taicon pw series, except one 2200uF 16v 12.5mm Rubycon YXG.

        the delta fan is:

        DC BRUSHLESS
        model: AUB0812H (// obviously the high rpm type)
        DC12V 0.26A
        Delta Electronics, Inc
        Made in China.

        this is not a cheap quality psu, but i dont know why this delta fan is the first to fail. maybe because it's not a ball bearing?

          Re: Delta DPS-125EB-1 120W PSU

          finally, i was able to figur out how to dismantle the casing, so i could see the inner side. this is its look now (after recapping):

          Scottky Diode: MBR2045 === 5V <- that's the only one i could see

          it has a passive pfc. the input filter is complete. i guess the original taicon caps is taiwan version of nichicon japan.

          i wnder what is this white connector for.. (line, neutral, ground)

            the back of PCB:

            obviusly, when the fan died, the middle area was burning hot.

            the dark/shadowed area on the left is fine, it is a thick shiny solder trace.

                  Re: Delta DPS-125EB-1 120W PSU

                  As I said in the Power supply build pictorial, the little extra connector is for a internal battery, these psu's were used in HP Vectra vl600's, and they could have a small internal back up battery that connected to that connector and another that connected to the motherboard.

                      What's that transformer shaped object for in the Delta EMI supression??

                      I've never seen one of those in PSUs in the US unless it's just a choke in a different package.

                      Which I have seen in many PSUs before.

                        Yup - it's probably a PPFC choke, which I've seen on several PSUs.

                          Sorry to resume such an old thread but I have a question about this PSU: I have one DPS125EB A and I can't start it with the jumper between green and black wire as usual.
                          Is there something more to turn it on?

                          The 5V stand-by is working and if I not wrong I tested this PSU in the past.
                          I have a doubt about a small connector with 3 wire: 2 are black and the central is green. What kind of connector is this one?

                          TIA
