Samsung UE58TU7100K Wont Turn On

Samsung UE58TU7100K

When trying to turn on, red light flashes twice, then pause, then flashes twice, then pause, then comes on solid, and screen lights up for a second (no image), then goes off and starts the cycle again.

Is there any known faults that I should be aware of before opening it up?

If I unplug the main board, and plug the TV in, the screen illuminates and stays on, so would seem the backlights are ok.

If I leave the mainboard plugged in, but inplug Tcon ribbon, the screen illuminates and stays on also

unplug the U ribbon on the screen buffer boards from one side and turn on... it should u have half picture

Unfortunately not, if I unplug either side one at a time, I get illumination from backlights, but nothing else

This was already discussed in other threads. In US the model number starts with UN instead.
With scotch tape you can get the image back, but there will be color tint on the lelt side.

Its not, we only get 12 months warranty

Hi, if i'm right 2 blinks is Power supply, try to test psb 13v output with board alone and dummy load like resistors or lamp, it could be a tension that seats under load..

That might be the Samsung warranty but it doesn't align with UK consumer law and doesn't apply.

Hi, tested the 13v outputs with board alone and all are reading ok. Not sure how to dummy load?

Put a car lamp on 13v or another house lamp like halogen, about 30-50w

It wont go into standby. As soon as it is plugged in, it goes into the cycle of turning on and off. Pressing power button both on set, and remote control does nothing.

How do I wire in a lamp and do test please?

Unfortunately I didnt buy the set new myself, so unable to return it. But thats interesting to know for future reference, I always thought electrical goods were 12 month warranty, unless took out extended from Currys etc

Please research out excellent consumer laws. An 18 month old TV is covered. There really is no need to fix, unless it's for learning.
