    Does it matter what the solder is like when you added the new caps?

    What if the soldering is messy, do you use a solder fume extractor with the flux fumes?

      No, not really.
      This card has slightly tougher ground/Vcc planes on some of the caps, so the solder may appear harder to melt on those... in which case, adding fresh 60/40 solder may help. I personally don't care, as my soldering station I use for recaps is rather insensitive (70W of power, and using a 5.2 mm bevel tip). I also use flux-less 95/5 Sn/Sb (95% Tin, 5% Antimony) lead-free solder for coper pipes, which I don't recommend to anyone at all. It's very hard to melt, unless you have a good iron. I just use it because I have it. For flux, I have some leftover Kingo stuff, which isn't great, but it works OK.

      Nope.
      My nose is typically the fume extractor.

      Just kidding. I turn on the ceiling fan and open the windows for a bit while soldering. Good enough.
