    MSI CR400 no display

    Hi,

when powered on, no display, fan spinning, power led is lit, sleep led is lit.
5v 3.3v alw are ok. coils near cpu has .01 and .02 volts.

    what does this mean?

do not do anything for gpu n SB , it will make it worse if you do....
as you describe , check your vcore voltage...

          Re: MSI CR400 no display

          are these vcore voltage?

coils near cpu has .01 and .02 volts.

there are 6 mosfets beside these two coils. two of these mosfets has 19+ volts pins 123, pin 4 gate no volatage, pin 5678 no voltage.

i cannot trace back gate pin to where it is connected to. i don't have schematic. near these fets is an isl6262. i replaced in with a known good part to no avail.

does anyone has a schemtic of this MSI CR400? will post exact model when i get home tonight.

regards and thanks for the reply

i did a mild reflow which i think not damaging. GMCH and ICH looks like in 1 chip. i dont see any ICH chip on this board.

will post a decent picture of the board later.

            tnx

              here are the pics.

correction on my post #5. pins 5678 has 19.11volts, no gate voltage pin 4, no voltage at pin 123.

do you check the voltage without the cpu ???????
the isl6262 is the driver of these mosfets so their gates are connected to it .

as you said you had already change it with a good one ,check if isl6262 is supplied with the 19v ;5v; and 3.3v; that is necessary for his functioning

no, i made test with the cpu on.

further test made with the help of a friend in uk. tested coil for gpu tested shorted to ground. isolated coil to determine if the short is coming after or before the coil. based on tests, circuit going through the gpu is shorted to ground. we assumed that the culprit is the gpu making the vcore voltage not to function properly.

                  earlier:
i had some test from the pins of isl6262 -
vin is ok, 3.3v is ok, powergood is ok.
what pin is 5v on isl6262?

                  tnx

thanks for the offer bro but

too bad, i'm in the Philippines.
are we correct with the findings?

do you re-ball gpu? do you have IR station?

                      regards

my friend, as a MSI experienced technician I do not recommend you to do any reflow or reball operation on that mobo, I ve mostly fixed MSI mobos doing a clear CMOS (take out BIOS battery and short the + and - pins for a few seconds), ram replacement or clean its slots, please try these and let me know results please.

                        Best regards.

By the way if you are able to flash the BIOS, try it, you can find its original BIOS dump file on link below, when you download and unzip it, you will see a file named " E1451nms.10y "
Use it for flashing the BIOS, good luck !

                            give you clues,
your problem is not chipset failure.
your problem is not ISL6262 failure.
                            thats for sure....

I think your problem is the same with toshiba satellite L300 series,if you are familiar with this one and if not you can search it here. The NEC/TOKIN is the culprit, it is the same with the one on top of the cpu (encircle in red) see attachment. Try to replace it with smd capacitor 4 X 330 uf 2.5v.

I've already tried and repaired 5 more of this model and and voila it works for
me. Before I also thought it was the Nvidia gpu was the problem, tried reflow and yet no luck then i suddenly realize the capacitor is the same with NEC/TOKIN from Satellite L300.

Hope this works for you.Good luck and let me know what happened.
