    Sandy Bridge CPU VRM Temperature

    Dear Forum Members,

I have got a MSI CX41 Laptop with the Intel B950 CPU.
I noticed a high side Mosfet on the CPU-vcore circuit gets hot to about 70'C after 4 minutes of turning on. and the CPU gets hot about 60'C after 3 seconds of turning on without any load.
CPU heatsink is installed on the CPU and on the Mosfets too. the fan works fine. the laptop works fine except these temperatures.
Please share your experiences on Temperatures of Intel Bxxx series CPUs and its CPU-vcore circuit.
    are these Temperatures normal?

    Thanks

tdp is 35W on that processor so 70c is way high without load. is both side of heatpipe hot?

maybe u have bad vrm driver who puts higher voltage, or bad low side mosfet makes driver put more load on highside mosfet. something is really not normal

Its definitely abnormal and it will kill the cpu after a couple of days. Replace the vcore IC first and then low/high side fets.
